3.0 out of 5 stars good, but not alone
You can't read just one of the first three alone, but there is a tremendous amount of complete sections repeated over and over again in books two and then three. I wonder if she'll have space for anything new at all in the next book in the series? This is a pleasant read, but needs a LOT of editing.

4.0 out of 5 stars overall enthusiastic, March 30, 1999
This review is from: The Cloak of Night and Daggers (Twelve Treasures) (Mass Market Paperback)
Overall, a very enjoyable read. Although, the plot did slow down at points, and I had to stop myself from peeking ahead to see what was coming up, it didn't detract from the overall story.

Be forewarned however, this novel does NOT stand on its own. You're left without a true ending!!! Very frustrating!

5.0 out of 5 stars Socialists & Elves or Technlogy vs. Magic, October 24, 1998

This review is from: The Cloak of Night and Daggers (Twelve Treasures) (Mass Market Paperback)
I found this third book of Ms. Edghill of 'The Twelve Treasures' to be the best of the lot. Picking up " The Sword of Maidens Tears" on a whim, I found myself engrossed with the story. Being one of those people that is on that fine line between fantasy and science fiction, I think that all of the 12 treasures books she has found an execent mid-point of the two. She includes the fans, and the whole world that they create with conventions, with some very good writing. (Not to mention a great story). Will Fox create the revolution he hopes for among men? Will Holly become the Warrior that we all know she is? What about Nic Brightlaw? What about the Dragon/ Wizard? Don't leave us hanging.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story, June 4, 2001
This review is from: The Cloak of Night and Daggers (Twelve Treasures) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is my favorite book in the series. The elements used in it are spectacular, and who doesn't love the concept of a real elf at a sci-fi convention? Makindeor and Melior are awesome characters, and I'd love to see more about them.

Fabulous book! I kept trying to get it to last longer! But at the same time I couldn't wait to get to the next page. I can't wait for the next in the series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! Where is the next one?, January 31, 2003

This review is from: The Cloak of Night and Daggers (Twelve Treasures) (Mass Market Paperback)
This story was lovely. I really enjoyed the introduction of the new characters (Mak is wonderfully sweet). And I am desperate to find out what happens next. Who is going to marry the wizard? What's going to happen to Philip/Fox? What is Nic Brightlaw's job now that he is back in the Iron World? I REALLY want to know!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nicely done!, January 14, 1999

This review is from: The Cloak of Night and Daggers (Twelve Treasures) (Mass Market Paperback)
Okay, now where's the next one? I positively devoured this book, and then re-read the previous two, and now I want to know what's next. This is an excellent piece of writing with really great action and so many offhand references that even I don't get them all! Definitely a must read for a fantasy fanatic!

I loved this book!!! It continued the saga of the Morning Lords quite well. I want to know when the next in the series comes out. Its one of those seires that once you start reading it, you can't stop until its completely finished. What happens next? Do all the Lords get their treasures to the Coronation?

2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting plot, but writing was flat and uninteresting, May 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Cloak of Night and Daggers (Twelve Treasures) (Mass Market Paperback)
I read the first two books awhile back and liked the plot but the writing stlye put me to sleep. The author does not know how to keep the book interesting. The characters were flat uninteresting. When I heard there was a third book, I decided to give the series another try. The third book stank worse than the first two. The only reason that I kept reading was because I forced myself. With a different author, the story might have actually gone somewhere else besides back to the bookstore. Dull, lacked polish, and was just plain terrible.
