5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this kettle!!!
This kettle boils water FAST, is easy to use and easy to clean. It is easy to see when the kettle is on - it has a blue light that lights up the water while heating. The light turns off when the water has boiled or the kettle is off.

2.0 out of 5 stars Most important - how does the water taste?
I purchased the Cloer kettle for use in my office hoping that the water would taste good enough for making tea. It doesn't. The blue light is cool, but what I really want is clean hot water. I purchased the Cloer kettle for use in my office hoping that the water would taste good enough for making tea. It doesn't. The blue light is cool, but what I really want is clean hot water. After boiling the kettle out a couple of times, I made a cup of tea. The after taste was terrible. In the process of boiling, the water absorbed some something from the kettle. I attribute it to the silicone gasket and plastic construction. I sent the unit back to Amazon.

I have also tried the Proctor Silex K2070-1. The after taste on that one was at least twice as bad as the Cloer. It went back to Amazon as well. In my search for a kettle that makes clean hot water I will next try the Hamilton Beach 40898. That one appears to have no plastic in contact with the water.

Water coming out of a kettle should be identical to water boiled on a stove or in a microwave - steaming hot with no taste. Since most manufacturers are good at including "free flavor" with their kettles, why not make the flavor earl grey. Then they would have something.

My husband is Bristish so we drink A LOT of tea. He was skeptical at first - he said you can't get a proper kettle here in the states. This kettle has changed his mind. This kettle is made in Germany and is very well made (sturdy - not cheap).

I highly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the coolest-looking kettle out there, May 21, 2009

This review is from: Cloer 5054019 Electric 57-Ounce Water Kettle (Kitchen)
I just got this kettle as a replacement for the old leaky one. It is now officially the coolest-looking kitchen appliance in our home. It is still too new to tell anything about its quality though. If it breaks within a year - I will come back and update this review.

Our old kettle had an exposed heating element, which, in my opinion boiled the water a bit faster than this one. But, it accumulated deposits that were hard to clean, which was a drawback. A large opening at the top of this kettle makes it really easy to reach inside and clean if need be. Its VERY easy to see how much water is in the kettle, as oppose to kettles with narrow plastic windows. It does not get as hot as steel or glass kettles, at least not to the point were it will burn you if you touch it. And of-course - our kids and everyone else like that blue LED light that shines through the water. Its like a lava lamp in fast motion, when the kettle is boiling. In short - so far we are very happy with this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted and more, October 16, 2009

The blue glow is really cool. The water boils quickly. It is easy to fill from either the spout or by opening the lid. I read an earlier review about the taste of water not being right, but I can't detect it. I drink instant coffee, tea, green tea, and haven't tasted anything unusual.

There is a drip that happens when you are pouring out of the spout. It is a drop on either side of the main pouring spout...it isn't too troublesome. Overall I like this very much.

I am now on the way to return this kettle.
IT IS NOT MADE FROM GLASS BUT FROM DISGUSTING PLASTIC.
Plastic releases bad chemicals, especially when heated!!!

There were a bunch of doubtful remarks there,
I can only say that I try to keep a balance livable choices.
I don't eat much organic food to prove my point.

I brought you a time magazine article quoting JAMA, there are
serious other papers relating to different health risks.
Using this stuff for cooking is very new, and recently we discovered it is really harmful. Teflon & Plastic should not be used in cookware, can coating, and containers.

The EPA and FDA will adopt this in a couple of years, but in the mean time think how long it took them to figure out led, arsenic, asbestos, and heroin are not good for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quickly Boiling, and Fun to Watch, December 4, 2008
This review is from: Cloer 5054019 Electric 57-Ounce Water Kettle (Kitchen)
We love this new water pot - if you have kids, they'll love to watch the water boil (as do we!) - a light shines makes the water appear blue while it's boiling and then turns off when the water is hot - no more kettles boiling dry or irritating you with whistles when you can't get to the stove immediately. Great item!

I got this kettle about a week ago to replace a 10 year old Krups electic kettle that started to leak.
So for I really love this kettle. When you turn it on the blue light comes on and makes the boiling water look really beautiful. But besides the look this really is a great kettle. It heats the watter up fast and the water tastes fine. Also it's really light weight, most of the other electric kettles on the market today are stainless steel and that makes them heavy, this one is light.

Kettle arrived quickly and has been working very well. The water heats up really quickly and I like that the kettle shuts itself off automatically when water reaches boiling.

I got the kettle for my office. I am going to get another for home. It heats water really fast, not just to hot but to boiling. You can see the water boiling through the opaque kettle, and with the blue light on when it is heating up it is fun to watch.
