This lightsaber is not as good as the Obi wan kenobi lightsaber.
The lightsaber hums when turned on. However, it does NOT make a different sound when swinging in the air light the Obi wan version. It also only changes sounds when you hit the hilt of the lightsaber but not the "blade." I would get a different version next time.

We have all four versions of these lightsabers and this one seems to be a favorite. It glows (red), hums (one sound in idle and another for contact), and is a spring blade that completely disappears into the hilt.
It's a good weight and seems durable enough plus the batteries last quite a bit of time. The cons of this saber is that the light doesn't glow very brightly and the spring could be dangerous for those who are standing in the way. Otherwise, this toy is recommended by all three of my sons and their daddy.

Same as the Obi-won one. My kids love it and it has been 2 yrs now and it is still going. They like the press button fling out thing. I own at least 6 light sabers.
