5.0 out of 5 stars An almost painfully underrated band...
Zeromancer's first album has got to be one of my all time favorite discs, and this one's not too shabby a follow-up. Where the first album often faded into fairly straight up synth-pop (even tossing in a shockingly good "Send me an Angel" cover,) this album's a bit heavier and more complicated.

This album probably falls a little bit better into the "gothic/industrial"...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as Eurotrash . . .
This is an excellent CD. It's sad that Orgy seems to be the most well-known representative of this underrated genre, while a band like Zeromancer who is far superior receives so little attention. This CD is not as catchy or listenable as Eurotrash, and is a 3.5 realistically, but is still a great record and a must-have for fans of electro-tinged hard rock.

This album probably falls a little bit better into the "gothic/industrial" club scene, though it doesn't fit either catagory exactly. The band takes a lot of flack for looking and sounding like Orgy, but what's wrong with that? Personally, I find Zeromancer's vocals a little smoother than Orgy, and their songs overall easier to listen to. Good album. Grab yourself a copy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Impressive 1st Release, June 16, 2004

Well, if you are in Europe it is their first release, though was not released in the U.S. until after their 2nd release, Eurotrash. The best I can describe Zeromancer, as far as genre is concerned, is Industrial/Alternative/Pop. They mix these three elements in such a way that fans of any of those three types of music can enjoy it. Industrial fans will like the dark techno element, alternative folks will like the guitar jamming and pop fans will enjoy their knack for nailing a powerful chorus. Though they will not attain the ultimate mixing of these three genres until their most recent release, ZZYZX, this is still an amazingly solid CD. It starts out rocking and doesn't let up until the final track, Houses of Cards, which is their 'mellow' song on the album. It is a great way to finish and allows the band to show their melodic sense in a more obvious way than the other faster tempo tracks. The track that should have been all over the radio stations is Something for the Pain, though any of the first 5 tunes are worthy of airplay. Not that there is a bad track on the disc by any means, the first 5 just happen to be more widely accessible in my opinion. People that like Orgy (a band they are often compared to), NIN's more straight forward stuff and heavier alt rock will ejoy this disc. The only thing stopping them from being popular is that they may be too heavy for the typical alt rocker and are viewed as not hard enough by those more into the real heavy stuff. This is considered to be the bands darkest and heaviest release as they only hint at their pop side. But they lay the groundwork for what is to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything they release is gold, June 4, 2005
This review is from: Clone Your Lover (Audio CD)
There is no other band that sounds like them, or has the lyrical poetry that Kim brings to the table with this CD and Eurotrash. Zeromancer is no "cookie cutter" goth band. But I would recommend Eurotrash as purchase one, followed by Clone your Lover, and the DVD is pretty good too.

I loved this album...I originally got hooked on Eurotrash, and I loved that album so much, I was forced to get this one. It actually took me a couple listens to get used too, but now I love it. My personal favorite tracks are "Clone your Lover", "Fade to Black", and "God Bless The Models". I definitely reccommend this CD. Zeromancer is my favorite band...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great cd., December 26, 2004
This review is from: Clone Your Lover (Audio CD)
While I haven't heard the band Orgy which they are often compared to, I'll be looking into Orgy soon but I think it would be hard for Orgy to be as good as Zeromancer (who I heard of from a friend), if you like NIN (though Zeromancer would make better dance music, there is more of a beat) or industrial/goth rock, I would recommend this cd but if you like something heavy, go with there other CD, Eurotrash which I have also written a review for.

4.0 out of 5 stars Think Orgy, but better..., March 24, 2003

I would have given this album 5 stars, but nothing's that good. This album does complete close though. I would like to see this band get the praise it deserves. I stumbled across their last cd on Amazon, and decided to order it on a whim. I do that a lot. I like the suspense of not knowing what I'm getting. I was pretty sure, I'd like the cd, not only was it was a good label, but I got some decent reviews. I heard one of the band members is from an 90's industrial/rock group called Prick. Have you ever seen the movie Fear? Well, their sond entitled "Animal" was played in it. Anyways, that band was okay, the vocals were a little too Sex Pistols for me, but Zeromancer is definitely a LOT better. These guys should pay me to promote for them; I've been telling everybody about 'em. I cant' wait to see 'em play in San Francisco @ the DNA Lounge on April 13th, this year. They're touring w/ Pigface, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, and Bile. Anyways, if you like Orgy, I KNOW you'll like this band. Believe me, I don't usually go off on music anymore, but this is a MUST HAVE. Oh, and don't let anyone tell you this is "goth" music, this is NOT "goth" music. Just to tell you how diverse my cd collection is, I own VNV Nation, Frontline Assembly, Delerium, Nince Inch Nails, Sade, Massive Attack, Eminem, Dr. Dre, The Roots, Slick Idiot, 30 Seconds to Mars, KMFDM. Yes, I used to go to "goth" clubs, but I never really considered myself one. I liked to refer to myself as an Industrialist, back in the day. But why limit yourself to one genre? Music is beautiful. I have albums to suit every mood I'm in. Rock - yeah. Rap - yeah, so what. Industrial - sure, I listen to that too. House - why not? As long as it's not country I'll listen to it. Anyways, I apologize for this lengthy review, but I wanted to give you a clear picture of my diverse taste in music and how much I like this band. ZEROMANCER HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF MY FAVORITE BANDS (and that's saying a lot)

2.0 out of 5 stars Not their strongest, October 22, 2004
This review is from: Clone Your Lover (Audio CD)
I didn't like this album very much. I don't know why. It just....wasn't very interesting. I didn't find ANY songs that caught my interest at all. I was very disappointed.

Then again, I don't really know why I don't like it. Maybe because it's rather bland? I don't know. It's just not very interesting at all.
