Magical, October 8, 2004
This review is from: Clooney Tunes & Others (Audio CD)
My siblings and I still remember all the words to this great album that we listened to over and over again in the 60s. A toe-tapping nod to childhood.

Clooney: Her songs for children, May 20, 2007
This review is from: Clooney Tunes & Others (Audio CD)
When I was a child in the 1950's, my parents bought me a 78 RPM record of RoseMary Clooney's, "Kitty Kats' Party". On the flip side was, "Teddy Bears' Picnic". I still have that 78 RPM vinyl record. But it is so scratched up, all you hear is pops, crackles & background hiss.
So, for many years, I hoped the industry would put out her, "For Children Only". They finally did. And it has all the background instrumentation that was barely audible on my record. Pristine sound! I am delighted to recommend this wonderful children's music CD. You won't be disappointed!

three classic children's albums live again!, April 16, 2007
This review is from: Clooney Tunes & Others (Audio CD)
This disc from DRG features three classic children's albums from the 1950s, all ready to charm and entertain a whole new generation (whilst allowing those of a certain age to re-discover them).
CLOONEY TUNES was a 1957 re-package of novelty and kiddie singles originally recorded by Rosemary Clooney between 1950-54, her early years with Columbia Records. Clooney's delightful touch and spin on such songs as "The Land of Hatchy Milatchy", "Little Sally One-Shoe", "Le petit cordonnier (The Little Shoemaker)"; and "The Syncopated Clock" will appeal to all ages, purely due to the verve and feeling of Clooney's vocals. In all of her ventures, she never gave short of 110%, and this album is of course no exception.
BONGO, part of the Disney compilation movie "Fun and Fancy Free", featured Dinah Shore serving as the Narrator and voicing the lead role of Bongo, a performing circus bear. Shore brings her breezy persona to add a special touch to "Bongo", and a rare outtake (included as a bonus track) allows us some extra time to appreciate Shore's performance.
THE ADVENTURES OF PICCOLO, SAXIE AND COMPANY was a fantastic kiddie album from Victor Borge, the legendary comedy musician who brought the classics to the masses in an entirely new light. Borge adapted and supervised everything on this album. Children are encouraged to learn about and appreciate the various classical music instruments, whilst enjoying Borge as he tells the story.
A bargain price, too. For anyone who remembers these classic recordings, this CD will be a charming reminder of simpler times, and for a new generation it will be a great surprise and delight.
