5.0 out of 5 stars Magical
My siblings and I still remember all the words to this great album that we listened to over and over again in the 60s. A toe-tapping nod to childhood.

3.0 out of 5 stars three classic children's albums live again!
This disc from DRG features three classic children's albums from the 1950s, all ready to charm and entertain a whole new generation (whilst allowing those of a certain age to re-discover them).

CLOONEY TUNES was a 1957 re-package of novelty and kiddie singles originally recorded by Rosemary Clooney between 1950-54, her early years with Columbia Records...

5.0 out of 5 stars Clooney: Her songs for children, May 20, 2007

When I was a child in the 1950's, my parents bought me a 78 RPM record of RoseMary Clooney's, "Kitty Kats' Party". On the flip side was, "Teddy Bears' Picnic". I still have that 78 RPM vinyl record. But it is so scratched up, all you hear is pops, crackles & background hiss.

So, for many years, I hoped the industry would put out her, "For Children Only". They finally did. And it has all the background instrumentation that was barely audible on my record. Pristine sound! I am delighted to recommend this wonderful children's music CD. You won't be disappointed!

Bill Burgess, one satisfied customer.

This disc from DRG features three classic children's albums from the 1950s, all ready to charm and entertain a whole new generation (whilst allowing those of a certain age to re-discover them).

CLOONEY TUNES was a 1957 re-package of novelty and kiddie singles originally recorded by Rosemary Clooney between 1950-54, her early years with Columbia Records. Clooney's delightful touch and spin on such songs as "The Land of Hatchy Milatchy", "Little Sally One-Shoe", "Le petit cordonnier (The Little Shoemaker)"; and "The Syncopated Clock" will appeal to all ages, purely due to the verve and feeling of Clooney's vocals. In all of her ventures, she never gave short of 110%, and this album is of course no exception.

BONGO, part of the Disney compilation movie "Fun and Fancy Free", featured Dinah Shore serving as the Narrator and voicing the lead role of Bongo, a performing circus bear. Shore brings her breezy persona to add a special touch to "Bongo", and a rare outtake (included as a bonus track) allows us some extra time to appreciate Shore's performance.

THE ADVENTURES OF PICCOLO, SAXIE AND COMPANY was a fantastic kiddie album from Victor Borge, the legendary comedy musician who brought the classics to the masses in an entirely new light. Borge adapted and supervised everything on this album. Children are encouraged to learn about and appreciate the various classical music instruments, whilst enjoying Borge as he tells the story.

A bargain price, too. For anyone who remembers these classic recordings, this CD will be a charming reminder of simpler times, and for a new generation it will be a great surprise and delight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rosemary Clooney Is Wonderful, January 14, 2006
This review is from: Clooney Tunes & Others (Audio CD)
This is a wonderful album, featuring some of Rosemary Clooney's often overlooked songs which were deemed "childish". However, they are still treasures and I am very happy to own this on CD. I am particularly fond of "On the Good Ship Lollipop". Rosemary's vocals are as strong as ever on this album, and it is very soothing to listen to.

I grew up with this music. I still have the record albumn but it is scratched. I just bought 3 copies to give to grand babies. A wonderful CD for small children. I think I was 4 years old when I was listening to mine. I had a small turntable in a case all my own. I played this music over and over and knew every word to each song.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, August 1, 2005
This review is from: Clooney Tunes & Others (Audio CD)
My mom grew up with this album, and made a copy of it for me when I had my daughter. Now my four year old loves it and we both know all the words. It's a great contrast to all the hyper-active overly-busy kid's music made today. It's so light and happy and fun. It's great!

This review is from: Clooney Tunes & Others (Audio CD)
I can't tell you how thrilled I was that this Rosemary Clooney Tunes album was released on Cd. I had to buy it right away. I had the album growing up and then had it transferred to tape for my kids. Now on cd it is a wonderful way to drift off to sleep for my children. Had to give it to my brother and sister! Has more than the original album... Wonderful! A great gift for children! Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilled to find Saxie & Company again!, September 12, 2008

I bought this CD because it includes "The Adventures of Piccolo, Saxie and Company," a favorite record from my childhood. This piece is a lovely way to introduce young people to the the instruments of the orchestra and their sounds, and how the instruments work together. That my primary focus was on music and musical activities from grade school through college was in no small part due to this my exposure to this story and the incomparable Victor Borge. I'm so happy to have it once again and share it with my own children.
