Book Description

February 27, 2007
This isn't your usual "how to" book on dementia, nor is it a multi-syllable medically worded tome to put you to sleep. Think of it as a long letter from an old friend who has spent a lot of time with demented people and their caregivers. Not all is somber; some will put a smile on your face. But that's not too strange since that's the way it is with dementia patients. How come the word dementia is used? Because Alzheimer's is the main cause of this disorder. In the U.S. today, some 4.5 million people have this kind of dementia and letting people know about Alzheimer's (and a number of other causes) can give you a clearer picture of what was once called

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read, October 16, 2008
This review is from: Close, But No Cigar: A trip through the land of dementia (Paperback)
The first chapter is a bit difficult to get through - full of medical jargon, but I promise you, the book is wonderful, easy to understand and is full of anecdotes that we all can relate to. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
