Did you ever wonder what cause an affair? This book goes over many reasons why one would have an affair, why a person is attracted to someone, and in what times individuals are the most likely to have an affair. Just knowing these these facts can make us all more aware of what to look for, and how to avoid having an affair.

There are times when we as individuals are more likely to have an affair than other times. When we are under stress through work, financial, relationship reasons, and others, we look for relief, we look for support. What gives us more instant gratification other than affair? There is little that gives someone a surge than an illicit affair.

I highly recommend reading this book. You may be married, you may even be involved with a married person. Affairs hurt everyone involved, the people directly involved, and all those touched by the affair. An amazing read, and I highly recommend picking this book up.

I've probably read every book written on marriage from a Christian perspective so was surprised to find new insights on the subject. The author is no doubt a Christian and he uses some Biblical resources but the book presents only psychological and practical issues; it does not offer an analysis of Scriptural principles. That's not to say his premises or conclusions are incorrect. On the contrary they are thought provoking and worthy of further study. I would recommend this book to any married couple - in light of the epidemic of adultery in today's Christian culture it would make an excellent wedding gift.

This has been an extremely useful book for me on a personal level as well as professionally as I have recommended this book to my therapy clients. My only initial dislike had to do with the format. He has exercises threaded within the book and I think I would have prefered all of those at the end in an appendix. The other draw back had to do with some of his examples weren't completely clear. Aside from those minor issues, this book provides valuable insights into understanding yourself better and becoming aware of potential close calls. If you can go through this book together with your signifiant other, it will spark a lot of good conversation - but you both need to be prepared and willing to discuss some potentially difficult topics with an open ear and patience. Even if you read it by yourself, it will be a worthwhile investment of your time - but don't skip ahead, pause and do the exercises along the way and you will get more out of it.

Would you like to know how you can protect your marriage and yourself from an affair?

It would be smart to talk with people who have committed adultery and learn from their mistakes. It would also be wise to talk with a counselor whose ministry is focused on affair prevention and affair recovery.

Dave Carder is the one you would want to talk to. His book Close Calls is one of the best books I've read in the last couple of years. It will help us in our marriages. It will help ministers and church leaders assist couples struggling couples better. It will help sexual strugglers and their spouses to see what contributes to infidelity and take steps toward a healthy marriage.

A QUICK SUMMARY
A pastor shares insights from his 30 years of working with couples who have had affairs and recovered from affairs. The focus of this book is on affair prevention.

The book helps you identify:
* What type of person is dangerously attractive to you
* The risk and stress factors that contribute to an marriage ripe for an affair
* How your past may make you vulnerable to an affair
* Positive steps you and your spouse can take to protect your marriage

The book is easy to read. It helps you the big picture and the individual pieces that contribute to an affair. The graphs and diagrams are very helpful. The book pauses at the right times and give you and your spouse and exercise to work through.

MINDBLOWER #1: THE DEVELOPMENT OF CLOSE CALLS DIAGRAM
Praise be to God who helped Dave come up with this diagram! The diagram is a clear and distinct outline for his book. It helps the reader see the big picture and the key components of an affair.
