5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating read that has many good points February 26, 2009
Format:Paperback
Did you ever wonder what cause an affair? This book goes over many reasons why one would have an affair, why a person is attracted to someone, and in what times individuals are the most likely to have an affair. Just knowing these these facts can make us all more aware of what to look for, and how to avoid having an affair.

There are times when we as individuals are more likely to have an affair than other times. When we are under stress through work, financial, relationship reasons, and others, we look for relief, we look for support. What gives us more instant gratification other than affair? There is little that gives someone a surge than an illicit affair.

I highly recommend reading this book. You may be married, you may even be involved with a married person. Affairs hurt everyone involved, the people directly involved, and all those touched by the affair. An amazing read, and I highly recommend picking this book up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fresh Ideas March 6, 2010

I've probably read every book written on marriage from a Christian perspective so was surprised to find new insights on the subject. The author is no doubt a Christian and he uses some Biblical resources but the book presents only psychological and practical issues; it does not offer an analysis of Scriptural principles. That's not to say his premises or conclusions are incorrect. On the contrary they are thought provoking and worthy of further study. I would recommend this book to any married couple - in light of the epidemic of adultery in today's Christian culture it would make an excellent wedding gift.

4.0 out of 5 stars Insightful/Valuable Tool June 12, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This has been an extremely useful book for me on a personal level as well as professionally as I have recommended this book to my therapy clients. My only initial dislike had to do with the format. He has exercises threaded within the book and I think I would have prefered all of those at the end in an appendix. The other draw back had to do with some of his examples weren't completely clear. Aside from those minor issues, this book provides valuable insights into understanding yourself better and becoming aware of potential close calls. If you can go through this book together with your signifiant other, it will spark a lot of good conversation - but you both need to be prepared and willing to discuss some potentially difficult topics with an open ear and patience. Even if you read it by yourself, it will be a worthwhile investment of your time - but don't skip ahead, pause and do the exercises along the way and you will get more out of it.
