Authors are often asked how they come up with the stories they write, how they get their ideas. I once overheard an author give the perfect answer: a special Post Office Box in his home town. That tickled me because I have no clue where my story ideas come from. Mostly, a character or characters will rise from my subconscious and insist that I not ignore them. Then I 'see' them in a situation...and the story builds from there.

Actually, I never intended to be a writer. Talk to any of my teachers from grade school on and they would be amazed. Then one day I fell in love with books. All kinds of books. But in particular romance novels. Now I write romances and have done so for years. First at Dell Publishing and then at Harlequin. Wow. Sometimes I'm as amazed as my teachers!
