Dahlia Wakefield, a dynamic singer/songwriter hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada has just released her new CD, ‘Close To Home’, which was released on her own independent label, Squirrelly Girl Music. Dahlia infused elements of country into the catchy, hook-laden Pop/Rock material featured on her new CD which ultimately created a sound as diverse as her multi-cultural background - a blend of English, Irish, Spanish, and Filipino. Armed with fierce determination, a love of music, a whole lot of talent, and a look as exotic as the flower she was named after, Dahlia graduated with Distinction from the highly regarded vocal program at Grant MacEwan College where she received two scholarships. Formal training during the day sharpened Dahlia’s songwriting skills, while belting it out in a pop/rock cover band by night honed her live chops. To her songwriting credit, she recently placed as a finalist in three international songwriting competitions, has received full-rotation radio play with her single "Die For You", and has landed on five compilation CDs so far. With her new CD just released and several accolades at her feet, Dahlia Wakefield is a rising star sure to shine bright and long.

"The voice of an angel!" -- was literally my very first thought the very first time I heard Dahlia singing "Die For You." HER voice singing THOSE lyrics to THAT music. Wow. It just doesn't get any better! And why isn't this song an international hit?! -- is what I keep wanting to know. Because it really does transport you to a completely different place and time when you listen to it ... and this one song alone is worth the price of the entire CD, in my opinion. But why not buy it and find out for yourself? The production is top-notch and, of course, there's Dahlia's beautiful voice singing EVERY TRACK. Oh yeah. Shhhhh, don't tell her, but Dahlia should probably be charging a ton of $$$ just for the privilege of hearing her voice ...
