Book Description

Love Inspired Larger Print November 1, 2009

Jace Scholte used to be the town bad boy, a rebel who thought he had a cause. But when Jace fell for Dodie Westerveld, he changed and became a Christian. Instead of marrying him, though, Dodie ran away without a word, taking his heart with her. Now they're both back in town. But Dodie still won't talk about the past. When they're paired together on a fundraiser for a new crisis center, Jace is reminded of how much she meant to him. Helping Dodie trust him--and herself--will take all the faith she once helped him find.

More About the Author

A transplanted city girl, Carolyne moved to the country when her fiancee and now husband, decided he wanted to farm. The move took quite well and Carolyne learned to milk cows, herd cows, drive a tractor, can, freeze, garden, bake, cook and preserve. She and her husband raised four wonderful children and took in numerous foster children. Somewhere along the way Carolyne decided she wanted to recreate her own version of the romance novels she loved reading. In her writing she yearns to show redemption and change and the chance to start over. Coming home to faith and love is a thread that is woven through every story she writes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book!, June 24, 2011
This book was so good! It's about a woman, Dodie, who is about to turn thirty years old and is struggling when she comes face-to-face with her past, and the reason behind why he IS her past...She has a secret she's carried for six years, and though she thinks she's moved on, she soon discovered that what happened to her six years ago was still very painful and raw...

Of course, Jace as his questions too. Why did she suddenly leave his life? What happened six years ago? Could he light the spark they once had now that he's temporarily back?

And then when Dodie is forced to come face-to-face with the issue from her past, she can't handle it and once again pushes the man she loves out of her life...

This book is SO good! The emotions, the intensity, the drama...it's all very realistic. This is one of those stories that you really do feel satisfied and happy at the end. Jace's reaction to the truth may not be the one we hope for, but it's the human response, and it was perfect....I DO think he let the man responsible for Dodie's pain off to easily..he deserved a punch in the nose for starters...

The religious aspects in this book were very good as well. First Dodie leads Jace to Christ, then Dodie looses some of her faith. For years, she doesn't acknowledge God is still there. Then Jace helps her come back to God. The prayer her father prays after the truth comes out is very good.

READ THIS BOOK...it's Very, very, very, very good!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay, June 17, 2011
I liked the other book in the series, A Family for Luke, much better. This one wasn't bad, but it just didn't stick with me like the other did. I hated the ridiculous names of the characters. Dodie doesn't sound pretty at all, and Jace sounds annoying to me, like it's trying to hard to be tough. It was kind of distracting, but other than that, it was a decent story
