These stories are far more than mere page turners. They are events in which the kaleidoscope of people's lives were wrenched ninety degrees. OK stories,

The stories John Long includes in this anthnology all involve people having near misses with death. A few of them are interesting, a few boring, and a few seemed exaggerated. None of them really seem to touch on how such an experiences changes ones life. They are simply narratives of the event. The stories encompass mountaineering, hunting, polar exploration and disasters. I'd borrow the book from the library instead of buying it.
