I welcome you to your hell, it's not much but I hope you like what you see, the deliciously sarcastic opening line from "A Nice Place To Visit", kicks off All Beauty Destroyed, the third album from electro/alternative icons Aesthetic Perfection. "There's an intentional irony in having a band called "Aesthetic Perfection" naming your album All Beauty ... Read more in Amazon's Aesthetic Perfection Store

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent short cd July 25, 2009
Format:Audio CD
This short album is best appreciated by current fans of the genre: harsh electro/EBM/Industrial music, rather than by newcomers. The reason I think that is because while solid, this cd isn't anything earth-shattering or ground-breaking.
Musically, it is about what you'd expect- competent, danceable, stompy and harsh. The vocals are distorted and screaming, but the words come out quite clearly. Lyrically, it is on the personal side. The songs are about depression, alienation, strained relationships...the lyrics reflect a general disgust with and rejection of society and relationships, both with others and with oneself. Unlike the music from the opposite end of the genre's lyrical spectrum, these songs avoid such well-worn topics as war, death on a massive scale, serial killing, demons, hell, and technologically-induced alienation from society.

My one complaint is that in order to bulk this up to full-length, there are all these "moody" filler songs that consist of nothing but trance-like, atmospheric slowbeats, kinda like the background music to a love scene from a sci-fi movie. If that filler was left out, this would be a very punchy, driving little cd that would leave a much stronger impression on the listener.

Truth be told, this probably rates more like 3 stars, but I'm giving it 4 on account of the fact that this is obviously a real effort by a musician serious about the genre- not a poser trying to sound harsh. All-in-all, this won't change your life, but if you are a fan of Agonoize, or Virtual Embrace, or Decoded Feedback, you've probably listened to those albums too many times already--so you'll enjoy this. Especially if you just upload the real songs to your Ipod or whatever, and skip the instrumental filler.

4.0 out of 5 stars Close to Human....Wonderful March 5, 2008
Format:Audio CD
By far the best tracks....Architech and I belong to You. Wasn't too big on the short tracks like Relapse and Ersatz and Reset. If Amazon would carry this album again, I'd buy it. It's good Dark-Goth-Synth MUSIC without an agenda.
