Lowsy lounge music,

Gillespie's effort to approach more commercial area should be avoided by his fans.
If you're into fusion I guess you might like this CD...

Mediocre, but still important...,

Let me say that as a fan of 80s fusion/jazz I like this record for what it is. But I must warn you: nothing truly spectacular happens on this 1984 recording as far as what you would expect from Dizzy and a collection of talented young musicians like Marcus Miller, Branford Marsalis, and the late Kenny Kirkland. Personally, I think they were pulling their musical punches just to please the execs and get on the emerging smooth jazz scene, and project suffers because of it. And to be frank, Dizzy was just such a nice guy. He lacks that 'I don't give @#$%, I'ma play what I want and you'll like it' attitude that made Miles so appealing(smile). I still encourage listeners to buy this record because; historically speaking this was Dizzy's first and only foray into the world of progressive/electric/fusion/jazz/whatever, plus you get to hear Dizzy and Stevie Wonder together on a recording not named 'Do I Do'. Fave tunes are:1. Could it be you? 3. Closer to the source(feat. the aforementioned Stevie Wonder) 7. Just before dawn 8. Textures

Dizzy, Stevie, Branford, Marcus, can't be beat. Stevie's harmonica stands out. And Marcus Miller is his usual great self. i love this cd.
