Olsen's ability to set the stage, build multi-dimensional characters, and create suspense is nothing short of brilliant. His diverse experience with people through his true crime writing obviously comes into play, as he has an exceptional understanding of the twisted mind. I felt like I actually knew these characters; like they were the best and worst of those people I've crossed paths with throughout life.

The twists and turn in Closer than Blood made it nearly impossible to put down; the ending took me by complete surprise. I had such a great time reading it that I was almost sad when it ended. Can't wait for more!

I'm a fan of gregg olsen and have enjoyed his works. But this story is a mess! In the dedication he thanks his editor for an eleventh hour solution. I think they skipped the twelfth hour re-edit. While the story is imaginative and compelling there are so many mistakes in it that they are distracting. It looks like it was rewritten at the last minute changing the action of the characters. The wrong people know the wrong things at the wrong times. This would have been a really great book if someone had gone through and edited it properly before it hit the printing press.

I can't express enough how much I love this book. I haven't even finished it yet but i could not wait to come on and voice my love. Gregg knocks it out once again. This book is a literal page turner.I simply cannot put it down. Born and raised in Kitsap County this book gives me chills as I read about the places in my own back yard. I absolutely adore Kendall Stark and look forward to reading more books with her as the main character. I love Gregg and am a loyal fan. Keep up the great work!
And to the negative reviewer....Really? Did you even read the book? No one believes for even a second that your review is legitimate. Get a life. Purchased 3 more copies today as Easter Basket goodies.

Man, I just really enjoy a Gregg Olsen tale. This being the fourth book I have read of his, he did not disappoint me. What I liked best about this one was the return of Detective Kendall Stark and forensic pathologist Birdy Waterman. (See his book Victim Six). I noticed a few errors, and had most of the "mystery" figured out but was so caught up in the story and characters it didn't matter, still a five star read in my opinion.

The read jumps around in time, from 15 years prior to present day, giving the reader background information on what had happened to lead up the current situation. Body counts have been adding up over the years and twin Tori Connelly seems to always be in the mix of it. A greedy, get what she wants killer, who has no problem playing anyone to get the outcome she thinks she deserves. I wanted to reach right into the book and smack her. Seriously.

Lanie, Tori's identical on the outside but not on the inside twin, has a secret of her own that she has carried around since high school and Tori knows just how to use that to her advantage.

Parker, Tori's most recent husbands almost 18 years old son, would do anything for Tori, even if that mean taking a life, just so that they can be together forever. Little does he know he is just a pawn in her sick scheme.

Kendall's own past comes to light, with a secret she has never shared with anyone, including her husband Steven. She knows Tori is responsible for the deaths and is out to prove it. And it's all about to go down at the class of 95 reunion.

I'm hoping Gregg has another book in the works with Kendall Stark, after all, he did leave a nice cliff hanger at the end. One of my favorite authors, Gregg Olsen has written another excellent crime thriller. If you haven't read any of Gregg's books you should really give them a try. He has a unique writing style that drags me right into the story and spits me out when it's done.

Great story!! As always, I enjoy the writing of this author in whatever style he chooses, whether it be true crime or fiction. Closer Than Blood is a compelling story. I love the way Olsen weaves a tale of the overlapping lives of the characters bringing them to full circle as they face a climatic and dramatic disclosure of the consequences and conclusions of the choices they made long ago. I enjoyed the sense of being present in each scene as I was drawn in by the author's interesting and detailed descriptive writing. From this woman's perspective, I found humor in Olsen's portraying of women in an uncanny way. I especially enjoyed the factual aspects of the story's real locations.

Gregg Olsen has done it again! Closer than Blood, set in the sleepy hamlets of the Kitsap Peninsula, is a roller coaster ride to the finish. The twist and turns are spell binding and the murderous beautiful perpetrator's dastardly deeds will leave you up late at night too anxious to sleep as you turn page after chilling page. The evil contained within the well packaged and perfectly groomed murderess oozes out from every page like the guilty pleasure of a caramel treat.
Filled with tight prose and pithy dialog, this book will have you missing the ferry, the train, and the plane as you burn through its story hungry to know every last sordid detail. If you like suspense, this is the book for you. Packed with more twists and turns than a Kitsappalachian back road, Closer than Blood is an excellent read and darn good story. Now I am off to see what else Olsen has written that I have not read yet!
