Closer to You: The Pop Side celebrates the finest pop moments from her seven album, decade plus legacy with Blue Note. In addition to the aforementioned 1960s nugget, this release features her stark and achingly vulnerable take on U2's "Love Is Blindness" as well as her transcendent take on Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" that evokes fireflies and shooting stars. Among its 11 tracks are favorites from Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, and a tenderly romantic version of Sting's "Fragile".

Ms. Wilson is without doubt a magnificent artist. However, this cd is merely a rehash of some previously released material along with some amuzing but certainly not purchase worthy additions. I love her work so much I tend to buy it sight unseen but i would not recommend it for purchase. By the way, if you can, never miss an opportunity to see her live.

You've got to be in the mood for this and of a certain age, it's deep and dark. Maybe it's beause Cassandra touches me fathoms below the happy medium, and is born in my year, that her voice always brings me through tears to a place of calm. Moody Blue. We know how the sad story ends, but she's got the grit to retell it in a beguiling way, like an inner voice and honest companion, a conscience acknowledging pain with dignity. Not everybody's bag, but mine for sure. A requiem. It isn't honey; more like molasses.Oblomov

Pleasant music. Nothing too raucous or clanging. A good pick for us 50+ listeners.
