Universal characters...not just for gay readers, May 29, 2005
This review is from: Closet Governor (Paperback)
This is a thoroughly enjoyable book. My greatest fear is that the average, heterosexual reader will shy away from it because of the gay theme. They would be missing out. The characters' feelings of fear, ambition, love, envy and betrayal are beautifully developed and representative of real people, regardless of sexual orientation. All lovers of mystery and intrigue will appreciate this freshman work.

Out of the Closet and Off the Shelf - A Great Read!, October 31, 2004
This review is from: Closet Governor (Paperback)
The characters in Gary Perkins & Hal Stockbridge's Closet Governor engaged me from the first page - I wanted to know more about them. From the Lieutenant Governor who is about to become the reluctant Governor to a twenty-something reporter trying to find a front page story, everyone has a pull. Soon you realize how people are linked together and the story keeps a lively pace. As a State Representative, I particularly enjoyed the political side to the story and found it to be very true to life.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries or politics. Especially nice is the fact that it has gay characters but isn't weak gay fiction as is too common.
