A coffee-table guide to liturgical vestments, January 26, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Clothed in Glory: Vesting the Church (Paperback)
With many beautiful color photographs of the vestment-makers art, this book would make a wonderful addition to a church library, or a gift for lovers of things liturgical. It is a compilation of articles about church vestments, many by the vestment designers themselves.
Although the photographs are uniformly excellent, the amount of detail within each chapter is rather uneven. For example, there is significant detail about the mechanics of banner hanging, but little about the construction of vestments.
As an "idea book," or as a gift for a church or liturgist, I give the work a solid B+ recommendation; as an information resource for someone trying to construct or design vestments, it's a B- at best.
