In Inabayama there was a legend of the piskie, a small maiden who emerged from the sea, or was found in the quiet places among the mountains. She would sit on rocks and brush her hair, or sometimes she would sing. To see one was considered both a great honour and a great tragedy for sorrow would often follow in their wake. The children of the kingdom would skip to the rhythm of a counting game created by the ancients when the Piskies walked more freely through the kingdom. Ronan Amara was to see two in his lifetime.
