Cloud b Sleep Sheep On The Go Travel Sound Machine with Four Soothing Sounds

This item is a WONDERFUL idea, and the on-the-go model is the perfect size for home (I don't know who would need the size of the original, larger sleep sheep - it's enormous) and travel, but it has two key flaws:

1) there isn't a continuous play mode!! There are only two timed options, then the sound turns off. My newborn needed the sound maintained continuously to STAY asleep, not just to FALL asleep. Thus, we would have to keep pressing the button over and over, waking up ourselves when the sound would turn off to keep her from waking up - beyond annoying.

2) the travel ("on-the-go") model does not have the heartbeat sound like the full size model does - why? Otherwise, the sounds are the same as the full size model (waves, rain and whales). As the heartbeat is a KEY sound to have for a newborn, why on earth would THAT be the sound they substituted out on the travel model for a redundant "gentle stream" sound (could it be to get you to buy both sizes?!?)?

I gave it two stars because everything else is so wonderful and it has so much potential to be a fabulous product:

--the sheep is adorable, soft, and it is great to be able to hang it from ANYWHERE with the velcro loop. Plus, it is battery operated, which is a huge blessing (batteries are pre-installed, and are very long lasting - we did not replace ours over three+ months of use).

--the way the sound "machine" is removable from the body of the sheep is ingenious. This way, you can wash the sheep and reinsert the machine when dry.

--LOVE the volume control: it's a dial, so you have complete control (not just low and high like so many children's products today).

--The rain sound is the closest to generic "white noise."

This product would be perfect with the 1) heartbeat sound in lieu of the 'gentle stream', which is redundant to the rain, imo, and 2)a continuous play mode.

Due to this, you are better off with Brookstones sound machine, which has not only timed settings, but continuous play, AND all the sounds you really need: heartbeat, in-utero (weird sloshing sound with "glub-glubs"), white noise, automobile and more. It's not cute and plush (and you have to plug it in w/ battery backup), but is WORKS.

For any parent who is raising a baby using gentle Happiest Baby on the Block soothing methods this "Sleepy Sheep" is a lifesaver. Babies really do respond to swaddling, being on their sides or stomachs, jiggling and "shush-ing" noise. We have used all of the white noises on this sheep and they all work to various degrees. We found the ocean sound to be closest to a parent "shssssh/shush" with breaths in between. Rather than shssssssh your lips off till your throat is bone dry, this Sheep does lots of the work for you and can be adjusted in volume for any ambient noise. Great item and did wonders for our little one's "4th trimester" She switches off like a light now when she recognizes the preparation and sheep sounds! Every new parent with a fussy baby should have this as a tool along with the Happiest Baby DVD!!! Great Item.

I got this because the "Happiest Baby on the Block" method, which includes using white noise, has worked very well with our son. I wanted something that was easy to turn on and off that could be kept by the crib. He loves his sleep sheep! He has even figured out how to turn the sounds on himself. It has 2 timer settings and four sounds. It is also very soft. I would definitely recommend it.

This is really a good product. Main thing - it can play either 23 or 45 min. You can choose from 4 different soothing sounds. Also - the product has a volume knob, so you can adjust the sound volume easily. There are good choice of sounds, our baby loves them all. Funny, but adults can use this item as a sleeping aid too.

Great! The sounds are perfect, my baby loves them all especially the whales. I love the fact that it has a volume dial and two choices of time. Small enough to pack and bring with you anywhere. Highly recommend.

This little lamb has saved us from suffering through sleepless nights. Our baby loves it, especially the whale sounds. Really works to calm her and soothe her to sleep almost immediately.

I bought my son the Gentle Giraffe first because I thought it was cuter and a little more unique (seemed like everyone had the sheep). As cute as it was, its noises are nothing compared to the Sleep Sheep. Gentle Giraffe has mother's heartbeat (which we never use), a waterfall (the only one that I have found to be conducive to sleep), and two other selections with "giraffe" sounds in them that are more suitable for playtime. After seeing the full-size Sleep Sheep at my SIL's house, I figured we would give it a shot. I figured if it didn't work for him, I would use it myself :) We got the To-Go size--it's a more manageable size for us and doesn't have the mother's heartbeat sound (since we don't like that sound anyway, this wasn't a big deal). My son is sleeping much better with this--he likes all of the sounds. They do well to settle him down and sometimes we see him just laying there listening to it calmly. I would highly recommend this product. I especially like the To-Go size because it is small enough to throw in the Pack & Play, stroller, car seat, crib. You can also remove the soundbox from the stuffed animal so that the Sheep can be washed.

This product is great. My daughter loves playing with it, and the sounds are a must now to put her to bed. I love that this one has a strap so that you can take it along easily. The volume is adjustable and I like that is turns itself off. I am going to start buying it for shower gifts. I wish I had known about it back then.

We just purchased this item for new grandbaby that is on the way. When my daughter-in-law received it she called me and played all the sounds to me so that I could hear them. Soooo cute and soothing--I think I want one for myself! Great soother!

Recently purchased this for our soon to be new grandchild.
But, our granddaughter, (17 months) saw it, tried it and refused to part with it. I'll be buying another for the new baby.
Mom, dad and even grandpa all want one. My favorite sound is the spring shower.
