5.0 out of 5 stars FABULOUS!
I purchased this turtle for my eleven year old brother for Christmas and he really loves it...as does everyone else in the house! Everyone wants their turn at night to have their ceiling illuminated with stars! I have also previously purchased the Twilight Ladybug for my three year old daughter, which is so adorable. My only comment between the two items is that the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Original turtle is better, January 6, 2009
This review is from: Cloud b Twilight Constellation Night Light, Sea Turtle (Baby Product)
While this sea turtle is nice; the original turtle is much better: The original: 1) has more stars/constellations to really turn the ceiling into a night sky; 2) it offers 3 color displays (blue, green and orange); the sea turtle CLAIMS to offer 3 colors, but it actually is only 2 and the "third" color comes when you press both the green and blue on at the SAME TIME, thus creating a "blue green" turtle shell. Further, when you do this, TWO displays are cast onto the ceiling (one green and one blue; NOT one blue-green display), it is very weird to see 2 moons and 2 sets of identical stars on the ceiling; and 3) on the original when you press each of the color buttons, the other color will automatically turn off, on the sea turtle if you don't turn off a color, you get that weird double display I was talking about.

Also, as a note, the endangered animals on the turtle only light up ON the turtle's shell NOT get cast onto the wall or ceiling.

If you are considering this, I absolutely would recommend the original turtle instead. Both my sons (2 and 4) LOVE LOVE LOVE it (and their friends all do, too, when they come over). They love to play with it and they love to fall asleep to it.

Everyone wants their turn at night to have their ceiling illuminated with stars! I have also previously purchased the Twilight Ladybug for my three year old daughter, which is so adorable. My only comment between the two items is that the ladybug projects the stars over a greater area...even onto the walls somewhat (in a large sized kids room), while the turtle projects in a narrower oval shape which only does about half the ceiling in a large room. This is probably due to the shell shapes...but just FYI...if you want more coverage go with the ladybug!

Don't expect to use it as a nightlight by which to see your child's facial expressions or to change his diaper (as I learned once they both arrived). It's not that bright. But if you want something that will project non-moving stars on the ceiling (i.e. a patch of about 3 ft by 3 ft on your ceiling), it works. You can also choose either green stars, blue stars, or both. It also has little pictures of endangered marine life that light up. If you want something to change a diaper, get a small lamp with a low wattage light bulb. If you want something "cute," especially for an older child, get this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sea Turtle Night Light....the kids love it as much as we do!!, November 3, 2010

This is the 4th Turtle night light we have purchased for our Grandchildren and Godson. We have purchased the
Ladybug night light for our Granddaughter as well.

They are fasinated when the stars appear in their dark room as we demostrate their gift to them. They clap and
squeal with delight when the stars change colors.

The automatic turn off feature is perfect. The children are happy for bedtime as their "friend" soothes them with
stars on their ceiling as they drift off to sleep. Only one Grandchild has stayed up past the 45 minutes and the turtle light turned off. He simply called out "hey, will someone come in to turn this light on". Too funny.

You will not be disappointed. We love the turtle, Sea Turtle and Ladybug night lights. The Sea turtle has colorful
sea creatures on his shell. We have not seen it, this info is from our daughter. Our grandson who was given the Turtle, the original night light asked his Mom if he could trade with his little brother for the Sea Turtle! He wanted the newer version.

5.0 out of 5 stars From Sea to Shining Stars, December 19, 2010

"Let's see what it's like first," Debbie said, as I put three AAA batteries into the belly of the turtle. We quickly adjourned to the bedroom, turned out the lights and hit the ON switch. The Debster giggled like a kid as the turtle cast dozens of five-pointed silhouettes across the ceiling and walls. Every five seconds or so, a new constellation appeared in the "sky." Another button selects the color that will be illuminated, red, green, or blue. Green shone the brightest, followed by blue and a disappointing red. There also looked like there was a milky way and a half crescent moon. A sleep timer ensures that the toy turns off in 45 minutes to lengthen battery life.

The sea turtle has a hard plastic shell on top with a soft, smooth head and smooth flippers. Three buttons are on at the back end of the shell so the child can turn it on and off easily, change colors, or just see the stars. A soft underbelly reveals a velcro patch that covers the plastic battery cover. To open the battery compartment requires a small Philips head screwdriver. Once loosened the plastic cover falls off and the battery sleeves are in full view.

It comes with a "Twighlight Storybook" smaller than a pocket-size notepad that tells the story of endangered species (that the child might not understand), three constellations: Delphinus (the dolphin), Cetus (the whale), and the Big Dipper (the bear). They can be viewed in all colors. The star guide helps parent and child find the constellation and tells them what they can do to preserve species of the water kingdom from extinction.

This may be one of the best gifts I have bought for a child. It's for kids naughty and nice because you might want to fulfill your fantasy of sending the former into outer space, and letting the latter view the same from his bed. Little David Lysander is definitely in the latter category.

Merry Christmas, kid.

Uncle Ed

I got this turtle for my 10 year old daughter who wanted a nightlight that displayed stars on the ceiling. I wasn't entirely sure this would be age appropriate but the first night she used it she was THRILLED. My daughter sleeps in a raised loft bed and therefore the stars are only 2 feet from her face, she really she liked the way you can display blue or green stars or both. Even though she is older, she needs a nightlight in her room as she gets up to go to the bathroom every now and then and climbing up and down the ladder in the dark can be hazardous. The turtle is not really very cuddly, as the shell is hard plastic, but he is pretty cute, nice sized but very portable as he goes back and forth to overnights at her dad's house. She has had this little guy for over a month and first installation of batteries still going strong, despite being used nightly, I like the function of auto shutoff before an hour goes by.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly as expected, November 15, 2008
This is a cute item and we like that it supports conservation efforts, however the stars are HUGE.. When we put the turtle on a table (3 feet off the ground) in her room the stars shine on the ceiling and walls about two inches wide. They are also really dim and it has to be really dark to see them. We expected that the stars would be smaller that there would be more of them. Based on the photos and their 'promotion' that you could see 'constillations' it was not exactly what we expected.

I bought this for my 2 yr old daughter a few months ago. I paid $30.00. It is a great product, well made and my daughter loves it. It helps her sooth at night and she loves the book that comes with it. BUY IT! It is great. I read some reviews saying the lights were not bright enough...change the batteries.

We received this product for our newborn about 12 months ago and use it every night when we put him in his crib. It gives off just enough light to be soothing but not keep him awake. . The batteries we replaced twice now and I think that is pretty good for as much use as it has gotten. The green light starts to fade when the batteries need replaced. We love twilight turtle and I actually just purchased the ladybug and another turtle for our baby cousins for christmas.

My 2 1/2 year old boy LOVES the Sea Turtle. He used to just lay in bed and stare at the ceiling and now he points out the moon and stars. Each night he picks what color he wants the moon and stars to be. It is something he looks forward to at bedtime now. Wish I would have bought it a while ago though.
