5.0 out of 5 stars Great tape maker, easy to use
I recently made eighteen yards of bias tape with this tape maker - it was a breeze. It's easy to use and the finished result looks really good. If your desired end result is double-fold bias tape, remember that you will need to fold it again after it's initial run through the tape maker and iron it at the center fold. The finished border on your garment or quilt will be...

3.0 out of 5 stars Works but nothing to be excited about
I thought this would be a really cool little tool. Well, in a way it is but compared to how I already make bias tape...not so much. I make bias by cutting the length of fabric...fold it in half and iron. Open and fold raw edge to the center fold and press, fold other side raw edge to center and press then fold in half again and press.. and I have bias tape...

I recently made eighteen yards of bias tape with this tape maker - it was a breeze. It's easy to use and the finished result looks really good. If your desired end result is double-fold bias tape, remember that you will need to fold it again after it's initial run through the tape maker and iron it at the center fold. The finished border on your garment or quilt will be one inch wide. Clover is the only company I could find that manufactures this two inch size bias tape maker.

These Clover Bias Tape Makers are perfect! They are easy to use; Cut strips of fabric (on bias or grain) and slowly slide it through the tape maker with a hot steam iron on the narrow side and you have your own bias tape in any color or pattern to match whatever you're making.

I purchased this for quilts, but now that I've used it, I'll be looking for other reasons to pull out this great little tool. I couldn't believe how precise the results were, and how easy it is to use. If you don't want to spend the money on a bias tape maker machine, this is the next best thing at a fraction of the price.

I thought this would be a really cool little tool. Well, in a way it is but compared to how I already make bias tape...not so much. I make bias by cutting the length of fabric...fold it in half and iron. Open and fold raw edge to the center fold and press, fold other side raw edge to center and press then fold in half again and press.. and I have bias tape.

This tool, kind of does the same thing...but the problem I had was getting it into the cornered U shape opening. You slide it in there, then have to have something (I used my seam ripper) to pull it through the tool to the other side. Once there, you have to go back and make the fabric slide in the Ushape specifically...once side, bottom and other side. And it has to STAY that way or it won't pull through right. So it took probably 5 min to get it to do and stay right, and then, once in there, yes, you pull it through and have your iron ready and just iron, pull the tool away from the iron and more "bias" will come out and just follow with the iron. Another minor problem I had was the fabric can slide down on the U shaped side and it won't be even sides once it gets to the iron side. Kind of have to do it slowly.

Does it work as is stays? Yes. Is it easier? Kind of. Is it quicker? I'd say no. I have 35 years of sewing talents and my way is quick and easy. Will I use the tool? Maybe. Could be I just need to use it and get a good handle on it. However....this is not something I do with to many projects...currently I have just made aprons for my grand kids for christmas and pulled the straps with this. Other than that...I don't really have a use for it to often. But...give it a try. For $8 give it a try!

Easy to use-- but definitely follow the advice to cut the fabric end into a point or you'll never get it in. Requires attention to detail or fabric can get twisted. I LOVE LOVE LOVE being able to make my own bias tape and this tool makes it so easy!

It works like a charm, from the first time I used it! I took the advice of a sewing blog and heavily starched the cotton as I went along, and now I have more white bias tape than I can possibly use! I'm looking forward to using it for making my daughter some quick summer dresses.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for every quilt maker, December 29, 2010

This review is from: Clover 2-Inch Bias Tape Maker (Kitchen)
This is a must have for any quilt maker. It facilitates making the binding for a quilt and I wouldn't be without one of these. The size is perfect for the 3 layer quilts and really provides a perfect looking finish. Don't hesitate to buy this. They are not stocked in most quilt shops for some reason.

I am so happy I have this!! It makes it so simple to make bias tape!! I was trying to do it on my own--burning my fingers, the tape not being straight/even... this is SUCH a time saver!
