I suffered immensely making two large flannel quilts for my grandchldren and was dreading making the third for their newborn sister when I found these pins. WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE THESE MADE IN PERFECT PIECING AND MATCHING OF SEAMS, especially with flannel. In sharp contrast to the first two quilts, I had no - NO - ripping out and resewing of mis-matched seams in my third quilt. [NOTE TO THOSE WHO ARE NOW WILLING TO TRY SEWING OR QUILTING WITH FLANNEL: (1) you must heavily starch and press your flannel before cutting, including the backing fabric if it's flannel; (2) straight stitch around the completed quilt top's outer edge a little less than 1/4" (you can serge this edge over the straight stitching as well if you wish);(3)gently put the quilt top in a closable extra large net bag or zippered pillow cover and wash on gentle cycle warm water; and,(4) tumble about 10 minutes in low to relax the fibers and press the quilt top with more starch while still damp before "sandwiching" the quilt top with the batting and backing before quilting and binding.]

There have also been non-quilt occasions where I've used these pins to deal with fat seams that have several "fabric convergences" happening. These pins are THE perfect tools for the job.

I absolutely LOVE these pins. I'm a quilter and these pins help me match seams perfectly. My quilt blocks have never looked so precise. The pins "straddle" the intersection of the seams and keep the fabric from shifting while sewing. I slowly sew right over the pins with my machine. In the past I used regular pins -- 2 to a seam intersection (but I usually tried to get away with just one pin.) I had mixed results. I also tried basting just the seam intersections before I sewed with a regular stitch length. Now I just use these fork pins and get great results.

Couture sewing guru, Susan Khalje, demonstrated on a video how these little gems help you sew plaids, stripes and seams so that they match perfectly. And if you sew, you know who who Susan Khalje is--or you should. You know how you have these lined up perfectly, but when you've finished sewing them, they're off just a little because the feed dogs feed the bottom layer of fabric faster than the top one? These little pins have two prongs, which you put on either side of the seam, stripe, etc.and they keep the fabric from shifting. They really work. Strangers on the street will actually stop you to comment how everything on your garment matches perfectly! Or maybe not. They're really a quilting notion, but we garment sewers won't tell. Plus, you know that anything made by Clover can't be all bad.

If she uses these, well, then I'm first in line, on-line, to buy some. They hold fabric together so you can actually get seams to match, for a professional look. How frustrating is it to pour hours into something and have it scream, "I'm homemade!"?

Seam alignment is a glaring hallmark of a pro; misalignment sez, "Schmo!"

These pins are used to hold two pieces of fabric together in order to match the lines or plaids or other lines that need to match.. Because they are in a u shape the pins go on each side and hold very nicely. They are so thin, you can actually sew over them

I am making a nine patch quilt using 1 inch finshed little patches & matching the seams was a nightmare until I ordered these fork pins. Now my seams all match & it is really a blessing to see my quilt turning out so crisp & professional, compared to my first nine patch blocks in the quilt.

Basically what you do is butt up the 2 seams, place a fork pin so that the seam is held together on each side by the 2 prongs of the pin. SLOWLY crawl over these pins with your needle, do each stitch turning your machine wheel until you have safely crawled over the pins. I was always afraid to sew over pins, but if you absolutely go slowly, you will not break a needle & you will end up with a perfectly matched set of seams using the fork pins.

Don't get in a hurry to get over those pins, you will save tons of time in the long run by not having to stop & rip out a seam that you thought should absolutely have matched up but did not. Oh yes, they lay flat & are very easy to insert in fabric.

I found about about these pins by googling on the net for directions on how to get perfect matching seams & several people mentioned these Clover fork pins. I am going to order another box of pins as soons as I get together a 25.00 free shipping order. Wish I had ordered 2 boxes right off the bat.

I use 100 per cent cotton quilting fabric & have noticed these pins leave little holes, but after pressing my finished block, the holes have healed themselves & disappeared. I cannot say if these pins would work for other types of material. The little holes are absolutely no problem & I don't feel they damage the material in any way since they disappear. I have checked back at previous blocks to see if the holes reappeared, but I cannot find a single trace of where the pins were.

These pins take a bit of adjustment as they are extremely sharp and a bit more attention is required when placing them in the fabric. However, the bit of additional time is well worth it. My quilt piecing quality has really improved as well as my seams. Fabric does not creep or move when these pins are used. But, beware of handling the fabric a lot or you are sure to stick yourself. Still worth the trouble.
