I bought this pin caddy for myself about a year ago and I loved it so much I bought two more for some of my quilting friends. Because it is magnetized and has a scoop shape, the caddy never loses pins or allows them to point off in odd directions. I've dropped pins from as high as about six inches (not on purpose) and from an inch or two off to the side. The always end up right where they are supposed to be, all lined up nicely. The groove in the middle makes it really easy to get pins back out. I've accidentally overturned the caddy, and no pins have escaped. For a clutz like me, this caddy is a dream come true!

I have had a magnetic pin holder for many years now. The reason I first purchased it was because I hated picking pins up off of the floor or trying to pick them out of the carpet... the only problem I still had was the porcupine I ended up with!
It was hard for me to believe that the pins would lay like they do in the photos, but they do. No more bloody finger tips, or yelps of pain when I'm reaching for a pin while laying out a pattern or pinning a seam. I treated myself to ALL new pins, too.(Do yourself a big favor, if you bend a pin OR dull one... TOSS it! Otherwise, you could grab it and it could snag a beautiful piece of fabric! I know I've done it.)

This is the best pin caddy ever! I've been sewing for 50 years. I still have a tomato pin cushion (remember those?) Of course I also have a couple other magnetic pin cushions that look like porcupines, but when I saw this, I just had to try it. So here's what's so great:

THERE'S A COVER! Of course I'm careful with sharp items around my grandbaby, but it sure is nice to know there's an added safety feature of the cover.
Taking it to classes is so very easy, again, because of the cover.
The pins line up perfectly.
There's a little grove that makes it so easy to pick up pins without getting stabbed.
And get this - I was sewing binding on a quilt this past weekend. The cover was on the pin caddy, and I set my little trimming scissors on top. I was pleasantly surprised that there's still enough magnetic force, even with the cover on, to hold my little scissors right there, in place, nice and handy when I reach for them again!

This is a great little gift for your sewing friends, or stocking stuffers. I highly recommend it! Oh, and I ended up buying two (green for pins; pink for needles!)

If you are shopping for a pin magnet, get this one. What a powerful magnet! If a pin is laying next to it on the table it will jump up and join the others on the caddy! If you hold a threaded needle near it, it will do a little dance, and then go horizontal and stay there if you hold it at the right distance above the magnet... great party trick....
Drop a pin on the floor? Hover this in the general area it will come running. Heck it even attracts scissors. Even with the cover on, pins want to lay on top of it.
I've learned lately that Clover makes the best sewing notions, period. Get this one.

Love my Clover Magnet Pin Caddy. Keeps my pins neat and tidy and easy to pick up the pins. Take it to sewing class where everyone is now wanting one!

This works well to catch pins and keep them all going in one direction. I tend to over stock the pin keeper so my pins tend to stick straight up. My own fault. It works well. I had a flat round magnetic pin catcher or years but this one works better !

This product is phenomenal. I have nearly dropped all on my pins but this jewel just scoops them right up. I use the unit halved around my work station and then just put them close together and the pins just fly right over. Basic necessity to any sewing room.

I purchased 2 of these and gave my sister the 2nd. one as a Christmas gift. I have just started using mine, and I don't keep it next to my computerized embroidery machine. Don't know if it would have negative effects with my machinet but i'm not taking any chances. You can actually watch the pins "jump" onto the caddy from 1 inch away. I tried it several times and then called my husband in to watch it. We both got a kick out of it. Very strong magnet and the bottom of it is actually a lid, although I highly doubt that there is a chance a pin will actually fall off of the caddy. I use the long butterfly top pins and the ones that look like a flower on top, works great. Would not hesitate to purchase a second one for myself if the need arises.
