About the Author
Mary Alice Fontenot is best known as the children's author on Cajun culture. She created the famous wetland characters of Clovis Crawfish and his friends more than thirty years ago-and they still find exciting new adventures. Mrs. Fontenot, who worked as a newspaperwoman for thirty-five years and also as a kindergarten teacher, received the Acadiana Arts Council Lifetime Achievement Award.

Anyone with an interest in the French language or Louisiana's unique Cajun culture and wildlife would appreciate the adventures of Clovis the Crawfish. This story centers on Batiste the skunk who is teased by the other wetland animals because of his stinkiness. The story teaches the powerful lesson of tolerance and the appreciation of other's differences. Included in the book are many simple French vocabulary and phrases which are furthered explained and translated in the text. Check out the entire Clovis the Crawfish series.
