A Clown Too Many-Les Dawson,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: A clown too many (Hardcover)
A Clown Too Many is an autobiography of Les Dawson's rise to the top of the English entertainment world as a comic, from more than humble beginnings. It is not the typical rags to riches story, and reads like a comic/tragedy skit or movie. It seems on the one hand hard to believe that all that is written actually happened to one man in one lifetime, yet I have not the slightest reason to believe it didn't. This book had me alternately falling off my chair in laughter one minute, and uncomfortably sad the next. I couldn't tell you if Les is still alive. I know that I never saw any of his many English television shows. What I can tell you is that I do not know that I have ever read a more honest, entertaining and self effacing biography in my life. The man is brutally honest about himself, his strengths, his weaknesses, his mistakes and successes, and ultimately what is important in life. Hardly a word is wasted as he lovingly and entertainingly lays his life bare for all to enjoy and learn from. The rare combination of a book that both entertains and teaches. Long live A Clown Too Many.
