IT"S WONDERFUL,
By SIR "COOPER" (Dallas, Tx) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Club #491 Tire Claw Security Device (Misc.)
Well I purchased the claw about six months ago, since then sold it to a relative and has been in use every since. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to deter a thief. The features of it are wonderful, and heck it's cheaper now than what I paid for it a few months back by ten dollars. At any rate, well worth the money.
More about the item. Sturdy. Rugged. Durable. Reliable. It comes with three keys, wonderful since they can not be duplicated. A small cover over the lock to ensure moisture doesn't ruin the mechanisms. Prominent enough to be easily recognized. A little know fact about cars, or perhaps not thought about. If you have a FWD car, place the device on the front wheel since this is where your drive axle is and thief would not only have to remove the tire claw from the vehicle, but also hot wire the car or burst the steering column in order to steal. The opposite is true for a RWD vehicle. An AWD drive vehicle either/or, is just as grand. Side note/freebie: The repossession man, most likely with a creeper on his/her truck, can't tow a front-wheel drive vehicle from the back. Will strip the transmission. A rear-wheel drive vehicle (most trucks) cannot be towed from the front. It takes too long to place it on a flatbed, and defeats the purpose of the speedy recovery. Someone may say, well they may have dolly wheels. Correct. But you can't speed down the freeway with those on a car. Note: There are two different sizes for the tire claw. Be sure to order the correct one. The one (XL) or 491 model fits around most car tires and probably some truck tires. You can check the specs on another site to verify. The 493 model is designed for smaller tires, such as motorcycles and dirt bikes. Make your choice correctly and wisely or you will definitely be disappointed. Second review, hope it helped somebody. I'M MR.COPPER. THAT'S MY TWO CENTS. NOW SPEND IT WISELY.

Great device. Cheap, highly visible and easy to use. An excellent theft deterrent. (just like the steering wheel club)
I bought this because I lease my cars and I would like to take it with me and use it on my next car. ** NOTE ** Make sure you order the right size. There are 2 sizes (one for motorcycles and another for cars) They look almost identical online and I almost bought the wrong one.

The cheapest fail safe security system on the market!,

Sure, you might look a little funny when throwing this thing on your ride, but that's a small price to pay for the sense of security that comes from knowing it's in place. The visual aspect of this thing as a theft deterrent is second to none! I use this in combination with wheel locks on my 1969 Camaro and have actually watched would be car thieves walk away in defeat after seeing this thing, it's a rather amusing sight! The only way for a car thief to bypass the tire claw is either with a cutting torch or a flatbed truck, neither of which are something you're average car thief will have with them. Easy on, Easy off, Easy storage, Easy decision!

Wheel lock was pretty easy to install on the wheel of my travel trailer. When installing, you will need to make sure the lock goes around the hub of the wheel and does not get caught on the brakes as this will not allow the lock to close properly. Another good theft deterrent!

It would NOT stay on my son's truck tire. They are oversized but well within the limits of the claw. If the arms on the claw were a little more curved so that they wrapped around the tire better then it would've stayed on...plus I couldn't get it to lock at the exact point I needed it to, with the arms tight against the tire. There was just enough play, even with it locked, such that we were able to work it off the tire. For regular tires it might be okay but it was useless for what we needed it for.

Best Deterrent Out There for RV's,

Most anti-theft devices for RV trailer's are directed at the tongue. Not bad for casual theft, but ball hitch locks can be bypassed by just hooking up the chains to the rear of a vehicle. The Claw, on the other hand, can't be bypassed very well. Nor can it be cut off very easily. It's easy to use: just unlock it and clamp it around a wheel. That's it. It's built well - very sturdy! A small price to pay for peace of mind and a lot easier to apply than all of those hitch locks. You get 3 or 4 keys to the essentially pick-proof lock. I think it works best if you have spokes in your wheel. Oh, make sure you get the right size. The #491 is the larger of the two sizes.

Works as expected without any problems on our tent camper trailer. Now I don't have to worry about an easy theft opportunity.

Tire Claw,

This review is from: The Club #491 Tire Claw Security Device (Misc.)
The Tire Claw goes on as explained quickly and securely. However, it seems more effective protecting use of the trailer wheel rather than the trailer itself. A thief can carry a spare tire/wheel, remove the tire from the trailer with the Claw still on it, and then put the spare on and drive away.

Does not work on 12" tires,

I got this XL for my chevy truck. I have 20" rims. I measured the tire width and it was 11" so I thought I would be ok. I was able to lock it and then slide it right off the tire. Had to return to Amazon. If you have a truck or SUV this is not going to work for you.
