2.0 out of 5 stars Lying gets you into trouble... as always, May 9, 1998

This review is from: Club Sunset Island 1: Too Many Boys! (Paperback)
Beautiful twins Becky and Allie Jacobs start their jobs as CITs at glamorous Club Sunset Island. The classic plot of lying-gets-you-nowhere is the basis of this novel. Cherie Bennett, who usually dazzles with her quirky, sharp writing, succumbs too quickly to the cliché trap. At the very start of the book, during the roundtable introductions, Becky immediately is so self-conscious she invents a new mother, since hers left her as a child. The story rapidly tumbles downhill as the plotline collapses. Naturally, the deception is figured out and the actress playing 'Mommie Dearest' starts dating the twins' father. I was left cringing throughout the entire ending of the book, where Daddy suddenly makes a surprise appearance at Parents' Day to see the twins and their newly-hired Mom.

I am a huge fan of Ms. Bennett's works, and I was looking forward to reading a story from the twins' point of view. But I was disappointed by the clichéd storyline and clumsy procedure. If you're a fan of Cherie's, and her popular Sunset Island series, skip this number. It just doesn't mesh with the rest.
