5.0 out of 5 stars A classic Nancy Drew
A great book! This is the Nancy we grew up with and remember. Applewood books, keep them coming! In this book, Nancy is at the scene of a fire at a large mansion when she finds a diary. Unfortuneately, it is in a language she can't read. She also meets a woman whose husband is missing. Could the missing husband, diary, and fire be connected? Read this book to find out.

2.0 out of 5 stars The Writing Is The Only Good Thing About It
This review concerns the original 1932 edition and the revised edition published in the 1960's. Both books follow the same plot; although, the revised edition is slightly different from the original. While returning from a carnival, Nancy, George and Bess witness a large home suddenly burst into flames. Thinking that there may be someone trapped inside, the girls rush...

I love to read Nancy Drew books! They are so exciting! In this one, Nancy finds a diary at the scene of a fire which leads to another thrilling mystery. I encourage all mystery lovers to read this book! As in all Nancy Drew books, there is TONS of adventure, excitement and cliffhangers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dated Classic, May 11, 2004
This review is from: The Clue in the Diary (Nancy Drew, Book 7) (Hardcover)
If you want to get started reading Nancy Drew, this book would be the place. Of all the ND series, I think I enjoyed this one the most. While Nancy and her friends' activities and dialogue seem a bit dated (don't forget most of these stories were written long before you were born) Nancy is a wholesome character who is constantly busy observing her environment and sticking her nose into places it may not belong. Of course, this kind of behavior is what makes a story interesting. This book deals with arson, stealing patents, and helping an innocence victim find justice.

Wild bill recommends this book for mystery lovers aged 9-12.

I couldn't resist writing a review for my very first Nancy Drew. I recieved this book on Christmas day when I was nine years old and I am in my 40s now. I still have that book and presented to my daughter when she was an adolescent. She is almost twenty-one and she fell in love with Nancy Drew just as I did. I remember Ned, Bess, and George and the adventures they had. I haven't read any of the new mysteries but if they are anything like the old ones then millions of young girls must have the sleuthing bug as I did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Have You read The Clue in the diary yet?, May 6, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Clue in the Diary (Nancy Drew, Book 7) (Hardcover)
Titan blonde Nancy Drew has a real nak for getting involved in a mystery. When Foxy Felix's expensive estate explodes into a huge fire Nancy and her friends Bess and George naturally go and check out the burning house. When Nancy goes ahead around the other side of the burning estate looking for survivors she spots a strange and mysterious figure running away from the scene of the crime. She finds two clues at the scene one including a diary that is completely written in Sweedish. She gets in some real trouble and the only people who can help her are three friends and her dad.
I liked the Nancy Drew book The Clue in the Diary because it was a little slow in the begining but then got gradually into a real page turning book. I would stay up till 11:00 pm just reading this book it was so good. It really taught you the lesson what goes around comes around. I really reccomend this wonderful mystery to all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Carolyn Keene has really done it this time!, August 20, 2000
By
Ann Norman (Columbus, GA United States) - See all my reviews
Meet Nancy Drew, an eighteen year old amateur detective who battles cases against crooks who elude FBI agents for months, but Nancy for only a few weeks. She is truly a wonder! Nancy and her friends, George, a tomboy, and Bess, a food loving, girly-girl, come together to create the toughest team of detectives, in my point of view, in the U.S.. In this book, Carolyn Keene has weaved a story of suspence that will keep you on your toes, solving the mystery right along with Nancy. Here she uncovers the story of an innocent man, thought to be guilty, and she battles her way through a tough story of crime and truth, as well as experiencing a little romance of her own.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Clue in the Diary, December 31, 2001
By
Elena (SF, CA, USA) - See all my reviews
This story is about an 18-year-old girl named Nancy Drew who likes to solve mysteries. She usually solves her mysteries with her two best friends, Bess Marvin, a girl who loves to eat and George Fayne, a tomboy.

While Nancy, George, and Bess were returning from a country carnival, they saw an explosion of a beautiful country mansion. Nancy and her friends were worried that people might be trapped in the mansion, so they went in to save them. While they were in the mansion, they found a diary lying on the floor. Nancy and her friends brought the diary home and found themselves a new mystery for them to solve. They're first clue was a diary. Its entries were in a writing that is very hard for them to decipher. There were also technical drawings and chemical formulas that were contained in the diary's pages. Would they solve the mystery? The question was answered when Nancy found out whom the diary belongs to.
