MOVIE-MAKING SETS THE SCENE FOR DANGER

Nancy and George are thrilled to take part in the filming of a pirate movie onboard the "Swift Adventure," a reproduction of a centuries-old sailing ship. Twin brothers Andrew and Daniel Wagner are producing the low-budget film, and they've asked their friends to help out. With Nancy as assistant director and George set to play a notorious female pirate, the girls can't wait to jump in.

But a series of robberies at the hotel where the cast and crew are staying, plus the discovery of gold doubloons at the crime scenes, has almost everyone in the production under suspicion. Could the robberies be a publicity stunt staged by one of the brothers? An angry crew member trying to sabotage the film? With her own safety in jeopardy, Nancy needs to figure out who, in a big cast of characters, is masterminding this criminal production.

More About the Author

Carolyn Keene and Franklin W. Dixon are the pseudonyms under which many ghostwriters penned the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series, respectively. Both series were created by Edward Stratemeyer, founder of the Stratemeyer Syndicate book packaging firm, in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

Stratemeyer's daughter, Harriet, and syndicate writer Mildred Wirt Benson were the two people primarily responsible for bringing the iconic character of Nancy Drew to life in the minds and hearts of millions of readers around the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Book, August 2, 2000
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Clue of the Gold Doubloons (Nancy Drew) (Paperback)
I think that The Clue of the Gold Doubloons was an excellent book. It was challenging to figure out who the burgular really was, even though i pride myself in cracking the case early in the book. Carolyn M. Keene did a great job of writing this book by using the formula for suspense. I would recommend this book to many young girls. I also recommend The Chocolate Covered Mystery; not only because of my addiction to chocolate, but because it is also one of the excellent written mysteries that keep you waiting until the end to find out who the real thief is.

This review is from: The Clue of the Gold Doubloons (Nancy Drew) (Paperback)
Nancy and George join friends from a film-making class on a ship to film their upcoming pirate film. With George playing a brave female pirate and Nancy as director it's sure to be fun. That is, until a mysterious, dangerous string of events occurs, leaving the colourful cast and crew on edge and indangered. Nancy must solve the case before her time runs out!
