It was a dark and stormy night...,
By
This review is from: Clue: Murder at Boddy Mansion (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
The classic boardgame has now moved to the computer. With all the mystery and suspense you knew and loved. The 3D graphics used with the game are excellent. The game can be played either viewing as the classic boardgame (overview), or as a three dimensional mansion. When a player makes a suggestion (e.g. Professor Plum with the knife in the library) the computer plays a simulated cut-scene of what that particular scenario might look like. With an added surround sound card and subwoofer these scenes are very suspenseful! The game can also be played solo, pitting you against two to five computer run players. This is a great classic game and highly recommended.

Family Game Night lives on!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Clue: Murder at Boddy Mansion (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
As a fan of the Family Game Night board game, I was excited to see the CD-Rom version of CLUE! We installed it over our network at home and the game is great to play that way! You can play it solo, too - with the computer taking on two other `players' with a choice of three skill levels. All the elements are in place here for an entertaining evening with the family, friends (over the Net even!), or by yourself!A word of warning: The suspected crime is reenacted as players guess whodunit each round. While the graphics are beautifully done, they are accompanied by spooky music, thunder and lightning which make the reenactments a bit startling and probably scary for little ones. There is no blood or gore involved by any means, just the `suspect' in the `room' using the `weapon' from the perspective/point of view of the player(you, not your game piece) as the victim. Perhaps I'm overacting in light of the abundance of video game violence out there for children already! The violence of this game is nothing compared to much of what I've seen in Nintendo/Sega/Play Station video games! All the same, I'll hold back one star in the name of Violence-Free entertainment. A patch, which I recommend downloading, is available for the CD-Rom.

The game has never let me complete it. It freezes up and won't let me move accross the board. I have windows XP. Maybe the game isn't compatable.

Its a Gas!,

I planned to give it to the Niece, but I keep playing it! When a character suggests a murder scenario, you see the dinner guest come after you with that weapon! You complete your 'scorecard' in colors so its a lot easier than the board game cards. If you dont have 3 people around, you play against novice or expert computer players. There's a slight delay after each player's move, but no more than kids around a coffee table. I cant stop Playing!

Pretty Good Game,

This game is pretty good and the service with Amazon was great. The game freezes but there should be a patch to download at the Hasbro website. Other than that it's fun!

How much fun is it to stay trapped in a room?,
By
This review is from: Clue: Murder at Boddy Mansion (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
Of the four reviews already written for this game, three complained about bugs. BELIEVE THEM. This is the most clunky game I've played in a long time. Here's what happens. When you enter a room, you can leave again, but if someone else enters the room and blocks the door you can't get past them. I've loaded it on three separate computers to see if the problem might be with the computer, but always the same problem. I have never been able to play for longer than 15 minutes without getting trapped. I love the board game, and I was excited about this adaptation, but it's not worth the time it will take you to install, get stuck, and uninstall it.

Unless you are patient don't bother!!,

I have been a huge Clue fan since I was little. I was so excited to see this cd-rom. The first game I played it froze in the middle. The next 6 attempts the same thing happened. I got very frustrated and went searching on the internet for the web pages listed on the manual. I downloaded the 'patch', rebooted my computer, this time the game lasted longer than the previous 7 attempts. Finally I turned everything that was running in the background on my computer, except for the two basic programs you need and the game ran fine for 6 games in a row. (I have to admit when it runs like it should it is fun.) The seventh game I was almost at the end of the game when it crashed the computer. No matter what I did the 'butler's voice' would only start working about 3 turns into the game. So unless you have the time to turn every program off everytime, don't waste your money- stick with the classic board version!!

Clue and Computer=?,
By Ethan (Franklin, Wisconsin) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Clue: Murder at Boddy Mansion (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
This game is just like the regular Clue! There is '50's music, and all the chacaters! In this computer Clue, there is really good grapfics, but also bugs in it! The grapfics makes it a lot more fun, but the bugs can stop the game, when you in the middle of the game! In this Clue, every time you guess someone, they show a cippling of what it would look like, like if you said, "Col. Musterd in the Ballroom with the revoler, then they will show I creepy clipping of Cl. Musterd shooting bullets withe the revoler, and the backround is the Ballroom. You can have BOTS be Novice, Skilled, or Expert. Bots are good, they are just like humans playing Clue. You can also play online at games.com! One more feature is you can change the map if it was just like the board game! Grapics/Looking Animation:9/10

This is the coolest game you can chose from classic or no dice roll.Classic is where you roll the die from 1-6 dots on it.No dice roll is where you don't roll the die but can get to 7-9 numbers on it.This game is where the cards come to life on suggestions. You can pick suspects like col.mustard,mr.green,miss scarlet and more.
