This review is from: Cluefinders Math Adventures Ages 9-12 Deluxe (CD-ROM)
Runs on older Windows versions. Very good. My son loves it. Beware: WILL NOT RUN ON WIN VISTA 64 Bit -- get an incompatible os error message -- Believe this is a 16 bit program which VISTA does not support at all (only 32 and 64 bit).

doesn't actually teach math?,

This review is from: Cluefinders Math Adventures Ages 9-12 Deluxe (CD-ROM)
We just got this and have only played for a short time, but it seems like the game expects the child to KNOW all of the math concepts the game is based on, and doesn't actually TEACH it to them if they don't. I don't need a game that is more exercises (@#$%* public school!), I need something that will lead my child through learning how to solve the problems, and hopefully in a fun way.The link between the activities required to discover clues and the clues themselves is weak. The first time we found a clue, we were helping a yak herder set up fences (finding area). Once we completed the exercise, the clue was: the suspect does not wear glasses. The first thing out of my son's mouth was "What? Why?" Also, the "logic cube" used to solve the mysteries is little more than a glorified version of the board game "Guess Who?" My guy was not impressed. We'll keep trying it out, but if your kids don't already know fractions, area, decimals, and some basic geometry, you might want to skip this game.

Inaccurate system requirements,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cluefinders Math Adventures Ages 9-12 Deluxe (CD-ROM)
System requirements from back of case: Windows Vista XP, Me, 98; 486DX/66MHz or better; 16 MB RAM; 22 MB free hard disk space.HOWEVER what the web description and case DON'T tell you is that this software if for 32-bit Vista, and won't install on the 64-bit version. There's no way to know that until you've opened and tried to install. If you're going to buy this, review your computer's system type to see if it's compatible.
