A fast paced booklet to help you remove excess clutter from your home.

The author, treating clutter as an addiction, jumps right to the point, and identifying 7 main kinds of clutter personalities. Included are labels like the Paper Pusher, Decor Disaster Victim, and the Chronic Collector (just like the kind they make TV shows about).

Right away, I feel left out. Yes, I have clutter in my home that I want to get rid of, but I don't fit into any of these categories. Feeling excluded, I continued to read the book to see if there was any useful tips I might be able to incorporate into my life.

After reviewing reasons why we collect clutter and some reasons for avoiding an excess of stuff, the author examines several areas of the home and how to purge them of unnecessary things. For me, the last chapter of the book, How to Maintain a Clutter-Free Home, was the most (possibly only) useful part of the book. But again, the tips are quite obvious and difficult to incorporate into one's routine without external motivation.

All in all, I wasn't very impressed with this booklet. The book has a very narrow focus on certain kinds of clutter and is difficult to apply on a more general scale. I'm glad it was a quick reed. I would have loved some hints on how to de-clutter my email inbox.

Short and Simple Guide June 20, 2011

This is a nice overview of how to declutter. Perhaps a good motivational tool since it is short enough to read in one sitting. However, this concise story is too basic that I doubt it will be of much help to those who need serious help. It follows the approach of less clutter through less material, so you must be willing to give or donate your prized possessions.

The problem lies therefore becomes that since this is such a short read, the suggestions made by the author are relatively basic. This requires the reader to think "outside the box" in order to find the approach and drive to truly live in a clutter-free world. Personally, this article serves as a good refresher guide to those individuals who have "mood-swings" in terms of cleaniness, sometimes having a spotless work surface while other times having papers piled all over.

Four stars from me. Good read with well-defined chapters, with a good "take-away" point at the end. Might not apply to those who are really messy, but serves as a nice word of encouragement for individuals who are currently lazy and want to procrasinate.

If you have never read anything on home organization and de-cluttering, this is a good basic primer and will give you a good starting place. If you have read other books or articles on the subject, you have already seen everything in this book. There is nothing new or original.

I'm glad I got this book on the free book list. I would have been upset if I had paid anything for it!

If you really want to de-clutter and organize, do yourself a favor and spend the money for some of Julie Morgenstern's books.

Just a very basic how-to book
This is a very quick, short read. A lot of this is just common-sense. Now if we all would do this, our lives would be a lot more clutter-free and stress-free, but do we?

Laundry????
I think to suggest not to buy new clothes and do laundry instead to unclutter your home is a bit far-fetched. I seriously doubt that that is a very common problem. Read more

No more than common sense
This book is fairly useless. It gives normal common sense ideas, such as weekly laundry, to reduce clutter. No good ideas and nothing to really tell us how to be free of clutter.
