The more I listen to it, the more I appreciate it. The disc is absolutely a positive vibe; see this band live at your own peril--you will be rocked like a hurricane and funked up like George Clinton. In the words of Jack Kerouac, "[T]he only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars . . . [t]he greatest ride in my life."

Puts the "funk" into FUNKY,

I guess this review is quite original in that all the others have been from America and I'm Irish. I was first introduced to the music of Clydes Ride when I was working in Luxembourg, by a friend of mine who use to hang out with them long b4 they made it big (thank you so much Deborah Mac.) With the majority of CDs you have to listen to them over and over again to get a real feel for the music, but not with this one. Upon hearing the killer tracks on this CD I became addicted and just couldn't get enough of it. Lani's voice is amazing and she makes love to the lyrics which the music caresses so vibrantly to form a musical orgy. Funky, loud, bold, big sounds complement happy, sad, angry lyrics. If you have any respect for music whatsoever, you'll go out and buy this now. A must for anyone who is serious about their music collection. Be impressed, BE VERY IMPRESSED.[Really needs to be released in Europe on a big scale]

Clyde's Ride is medicine. Medicine for a world sick with dispair and frusteration. I've seen them perform countless times and they always lift my spirits. Their first CD captures the essence of recording for the first time. Sure you can hear the shyness in the tracks, but that's what makes a new band exciting. It's refreshing to hear an album that's not overproduced. An album that captures the feeling of a real band, timidness and all. I love this band and wish them the best.

This CD is great!! A friend recommended this band, and after seeing them live one time, I was hooked. I highly recommend this CD (and see them play, if you can) to anybody that likes funky dance music. It's great funk with some blues sounds here and there. I never get tired of it.

These guys have a bit of everything in their music. Textures, layers, everybody going in different directions, then back together seamlessly. Cool but impassioned. Most interesting band I've heard in a long time. Buy two copies 'cause your friends will steal the first.

I've been a long time fan of Clyde's Ride, seeing them when they used to play parties in and around UC San Diego, and at countless bars since then. Let me tell you, if you love their CD (which I'm sure you will) then go see them live next time they cruise through your area. Their funky jamming and amazing vocals are a refreshing change from the blase music that we are inundated with by radio and videos. This music is good for the soul and awesome to groove to!

The pure funkyness of this band can rival any group. There is a freshness to their music. The #3 cut on this CD has a funky bassline that would make Bootsy Collins proud. And Lani's voice has a smooth quality tha reminds me of Edie Brickell. Anyone looking for an upbeat funk filled ride should pick this up.

I loved the simple yet very involved musical ideas they put into so many different songs. The male a female vocals not only compilmwent each other but are both just as awesome standing alone. I love bands with horns, etc.

Puts me in the "zone",

When I first heard this band in the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego, I couldn't help but put my drink down, and get on the floor to dance with my friend. They have a good sense of timing and know how to interact with the crowd. It's good to hear a "jam session" band again. Clyde's Ride is quality stuff. Hope they play at Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte soon. Mammoth Records of Chapel Hill, NC should sign them!!!!!
