Excellent manual, but it's not the Honda Shop Guide...,

Clymer is well known as one of the premier sources of aftermarket service and repair manuals. This edition is no exception, but in an effort to reduce the total number of books it has to write, it has combined two engines spanning 8 years of production. This makes it a little ungainly when you are searching the book for the proper procedure to replace the air filter from a 1994 VFR. The reader is forced to wade through instructions for three different engine configurations before finding the steps for their particular model. Although this made the procedures a little harder to find, the steps are well documented, the pictures (although a bit dark) are plenty, and the instructional text is peppered with safety tips as well as tricks to use when Honda-specific tools are not available. For the true home mechanic, the Honda Factory Service Manual is probably a better bet. It comes in two parts, the Common Service guide which details operations which are the same for all Honda motorcycles, and the Model Specific Guide which details all the procedures which are unique to your model. The Honda manual assumes you are a trained mechanic and have the Honda tools in your shop. The Honda manuals are about $100.00, four times the cost of the Clymer manual which Amazon sells for about $25.00. If you are a closet home motorcycle mechanic, but leave the really tough stuff to the pros, the Clymer Service-Repair-Maintenance book is for you.
