Not everything goes well when you purchase things online. I recently had a problem with the item I received. The seller was courteous and willing to accomodate my requests for an item with suitable specifications.
BTW, the item is not really 9 pin. Its USB to 3.5mm. When ordering, check the side of your meter to see if its 2.5 mm (phone size jack) or 3.5mm (mp3 player size jack), and ask for either 2.5mm or 3.55mm as the connection to your meter.

This cable does not work if you are running Vista 64bit. There is no 64 bit driver according to the Abbott rep. At least last time I checked. Had to use an old XP machine. Works as specified on XP machine.

This cable was supposed to connect an ABBOTT Freestyle Lite glucose meter to a PC for downloading test results. It does not in spite of promises by the seller that he personally tested it successfully. ABBOTT later told me that it could not work with their meter. It may work with other devices but never with their meter. I guess that this is not the first time a seller (bestshop24h) stretched the truth. Caveat emptor!

This is a good product. I would highly recommend to anyone with a glucometer. One would think that Freestyle would include it with the meter.

Unlike the other reviews, I have nothing but good things to say about this cable and the seller, Celeritous.
The cable was purchased for use on a computer running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit and I found the installation to be fast and easy. From the time I began reading the instructions to installing the USB driver software, the CoPilot software and uploaded data from the meter, less than 15 minutes had elapsed. That included 2 reboots since I always reboot the system after installing new software. Though probably not necessary to do the reboots, old habits are hard to break. Note: Celeritous does not supply the CoPilot software but it is free download from Abbot Diabetes Care. Celeritous does include a disc with the driver software and driver installation instructions. I highly recommend this cable for those who have the Freestyle meters and need to upload data into the CoPilot management system.

this produce is NOT compatible with mac as it states. if you have a mac don't buy it. And there are no return either, all finale. They need to let you know that too.
Very disappointed!

Received cable faster than expected. It makes tracking my blood sugar so much easier. Just plug it in and download all the data in a matter of minutes.

When I ordered this cable I specified a 2.5 mm pin (after reading reviews here) and also specified that I needed for it to work with a Freestyle Lite meter. The seller replied "ok". The cable came in a reasonable period of time and I installed per directions on the included mini-cd. It didn't work. I worked on it for about 45 minutes and called the Abbott number for help. I got a really nice guy but, basically, he couldn't get it to work either. He thought it was because it was an off-brand cable and that it was incompatible. He worked with me for about 45 minutes. He sent me an Abbott cable. When that came I got the same "Timeout waiting for meter to respond." message as before. We worked with it for a while and eventually got the Abbott cable to work. After that I start sleuthing around and figured out what was going on. Here it is:
1. There is a log file in Program Files\CoPilot Health Management Sytems\ named CoPilotError.log that is written when this error occurs. Mine said: "Exception while opening port COM5:ie_Open - device already open" so I knew I had a conflict with another application 2. I went to my Control Panel/System/Hardware/DeviceManager and looked at my Com ports. I found the Bluetooth Com ports I set up for my Palm Pilot Hotsync so I shut down the Hotsync Manager. 3. I went back into CoPilot and tried to unload data from my meter with the Abbott cable -- it worked fine. 4. I did the above steps with THIS cable after doing the setup for it on my second desktop computer -- it worked fine. 5. I restarted my Hotsync Manager after I finished my download. So what I found is that even though the Com ports for other apps are not the same Com port as the one this cable (or the Abbott cable) uses, there can be a conflict that will keep them from working. Hope this helps other folks trying to download their data. I got no reply from the vendor when I emailed them. |
