1.0 out of 5 stars not for those that aren't looking to coach others
I give this book a one star because it wasn't an easy read and Iam certain I would have taken to the info much better had I taken several classes regarding the subject first. I wasn't looking to coach anyone really but my self but felt overwhelmed with all the graphs and coach lingo, reminds me of possibly a sales men or a foot ball coach.

I was a top-rated executive coach in a Fortune 100 company. But reading and applying the wisdom and knowledge contained in this book has taken me to an entirely new, more powerful level of coaching business owners and executives and helping them achieve dramatic breakthroughs in amazingly short periods of time. It's clear that these authors are master practitioners of their craft. Theirs is not an academic or psychological approach to coaching, but rather a powerful, pragmatic set of insights, experiences and applications. Whether you are thinking about coaching as a profession, or trying to improve your management and mentoring skills, this is the single best resource you can find.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book Re: Coaching, September 7, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Coach Anyone About Anything: How to Help People Succeed in Business and Life (Paperback)
I have been cosidering pursuing a career as a "life coach" for some time now. In an effort to ensure that this is the correct path for me, I decided to purchase this book to enhance my knowledge of what coaching is all about - hoping that it would give me an "eagles-eye" view of what to expect, and the tools I may be using.

After reading "Coach Anyone...", I can honestly say that I have obtained a much better idea of the role of the life coach. On top of this, it provided me with many different ideas, models & methods to consider using in my own practice, as well as ways to counter the pitfalls that may occur. Ideas on how to build a coaching business is also included.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book to both the novice and professional alike. Whether you've already started your coaching career, or are just wondering what coaching is all about, this book will provide invaluable insights to help you along the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to Coach Transformation, September 3, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Coach Anyone About Anything: How to Help People Succeed in Business and Life (Paperback)
This book addresses is how to facilitate transformation in those you are coaching. It starts from the understanding that context is key... (Your context fills in the meaning, obstacles and motivations that you perceive in a given situation.) Then it goes on to illustrate how one can literally generate a different context; one that empowers you and naturally leads to your taking appropriate action which is aligned with your goals and purposes. And of course, it teaches you how to facilitate this for others.

This book will not only teach you how to be a great coach, but it will facilitate you in being someone who makes meaningful contributions to the lives of those you work with.

How wonderful would it be for everyone around you to be breaking through barriers that stopped them and realizing possibilities that inspire us all?

OK... let me bring this back to black and white practicality. These are the intentions and outcomes this book promises (taken from the Introduction):

* Take the mystery out of coaching.
* Erase the notion or myth that coaching is difficult.
* Discover essential and proven coaching principles.
* Experience the magnificence of others (and yourself).
* Use coaching models and tools.
* Say, "I can do this! I can coach!"

If this is something that you want, buy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST BOOK ON COACHING!, October 18, 2004
This review is from: Coach Anyone About Anything: How to Help People Succeed in Business and Life (Paperback)
I purchased many books on coaching when I was first considering the option of starting a coaching practice. Fortunately I happened upon Coach Anyone. This was the ONLY book that provided practical, how to step-by-step approaches to not only setting up a coaching practice, but to actually coach others. Coach Anyone is the one book that I use continually, a true reference manual, with impactful, easy to follow tools that keep the coach and the client on track to achieving the desired outcomes.

Written in practical and easy-to-follow language, the authors provide a roadmap that is powerful, yet simple. There are many forms and checklists that support the coach such as the DreamMakers/DreamBrakers, and also challenge the coach to self-assessment in order to avoid mediocity.

Coach Anyone is the best investment you can make. The model, which can be applied to all aspects of your business and personal life, is sure to pay for the book many times over!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, March 16, 2004
This review is from: Coach Anyone About Anything: How to Help People Succeed in Business and Life (Paperback)
If you are interested in learning about what life coaching is and what it is not-I highly recommend you read this book. I found this book to be one of the best on the market. It explains in great detail HOW TO coach, and how NOT TO coach. I apply many of the principles outlined in this book daily--in my coaching practice.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book On Coaching that Actually Makes Better Coaches!, January 21, 2002

This review is from: Coach Anyone About Anything: How to Help People Succeed in Business and Life (Paperback)
"Coach Anyone.." really worked for me! Just after receiving the book and on a short plane trip, I skimmed through it and was so impressed that I marked over 100 pages for "must re-read" and vowed to read the entire book in more depth. This book has the range of impact to deepen one's knowledge and skill of Coaching whether read quickly or studied in depth. Using well done graphics and precise, effective writing, "Coach Anyone.." presents Coaching in an accurate, up to date and complete way so everyone whether they have just a few minutes or enough time to make an in depth study of Coaching or whether they are new to coaching or "winning" coaches all can all improve their Coaching skills from whatever time or level of energy they invest in the book. The reader can be touched deeply with a life changing new paradigm or pick up some new techniques he or she can use to make a difference in a real coaching situation immediately.
If you are a beginner Coach, an effective Coach already or you are a coachable person exploring how useful coaching would be in your life or in a specific situation, you will get a lot out of this book. For those not into Coaching yet drawn to the book's dynamic and lively presentation or the vividly communicated ideas, you will awaken to the real nature of Coaching and how important another supportive "set of eyes and pair of ears" can be in helping you to fulfill your commitments at all levels of life and in all situations. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful resource for new and seasoned coaches alike, October 7, 2008
This review is from: Coach Anyone About Anything: How to Help People Succeed in Business and Life (Paperback)
When my boyfriend first handed me this book I was unentuhused, "Yet another book about coaching??" As a Peak Performance Expert, Master NLP practitioner and a Master Life Coach for The Certified Coaches Federation, I've read tons and tons of books on empowering others to succeed. As such, when I first cracked open this book I did so with little expectation of learning anything "new". I must must confess, however, that I was dead wrong...and dutifiully humbled. This book was filled with wonderful gems of insight and many innovative exercises and ideas. It will be a resource that I will return to again and again to use with my clients. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars How This Book Helped Me!, June 5, 2002

"stephen6001" (Plano, Texas United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Coach Anyone About Anything: How to Help People Succeed in Business and Life (Paperback)
This is an absolutely excellent book, that from day one has really made a difference in my business activities.

For example, their simple definitions of Leader, Manager, and Coach have been extremely helpful to me. I am constantly juggling between these roles and just last week, this juggling act left me confused and a bit worried after a hectic week.

Once I started categorizing the things I do as a Leader, Manager, and Coach I better understand what I should and should not do within these areas to reach my goals and objectives and when to look for others to be responsible for their own.

That simple page has really made a difference and has already made me much more effective!

Thanks again!

5.0 out of 5 stars An ongoing resource no matter what your skill level, October 15, 2004
This review is from: Coach Anyone About Anything: How to Help People Succeed in Business and Life (Paperback)
I've participated in all types of trainings and read a tremendous amount of literature on making a difference in organizations and businesses. This book by far is one of the most practical in the application of many of those theoretical models. It takes the mystery out of affecting change and "out of the box" results whether you have been coaching for decades or you are a new entry into the world of coaching. Bravo and thank you for a seemingly simple roadmap that offers an unending depth of work for a lifetime career!

5.0 out of 5 stars Coaching Made Easy, September 15, 2001

Cindy Angelly (Houston, Tx USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Coach Anyone About Anything: How to Help People Succeed in Business and Life (Paperback)
I have been a business coach as well as a personal coach for over ten years. As a coach sometimes, I try to make it more difficult than is necessary. The section on the Coaching Scope in this book is an easy and fundamental model and an excellent reminder for a coach to simply ask themselves. "What role am I currently playing in this situation"? Once I define that role, either the one of Facilitator or Expert, I am then able to draw upon my coaching techniques that are appropriate for the situation and move forward.
