Great movie. Bad Soundtrack.,

This is the entire list of songs from the "Coach Carter" movie. There may be some oversights. But it's far more accurate than the track listing on the sound track.
Great movie. Bad Soundtrack. Music is an integral part of many movies. I find it so disappointing when the tracks you heard in the movie are not included on the soundtrack. I sympathise with legalities of trying to pull all the labels and artists together. But as the consumer, it just plain sucks. All My Peoples, Invisible Men All Night Long, Red Cafe Booty Skaker, Carmen Carter Can you Feel the Beat Can't Turn You Loose, Otis Redding Changes, 2Pac Comin' From Where I'm From, Anthony Hamilton Coolie Dance Rhythm, Cordel 'Scatta' Burrell Dance Sucka T-Ray Enjoy the Show, Erin Thompkins Everybody Got Their Something, Nikka Costa Get Low, Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz Halftime (Stand Up & Get Crunk), Ying Yang Twins Headsprung, LL Cool J Hope [Featuring Faith Evans], Twista I Changed My Name, Keyshia Cole, Kanye West I Like That, Houston In the Air Tonight, Nonpoint Lately, Tyrese Let me Prove my love to you, The Main Ingredient Let the Drummer Kick, Citizen Cope Locked Up, Akon Lost Ones, Lauryn Hill Move Ya Body (Radio Edit), Nina Sky No Need for Conversation [Featuring Mike Shorey], Fabolous Off the Wall, Ali Theodore Oh Boy, Francci Richard Professional [Featuring GIB], Chingy Read Your Mind, Avant Roll Wit You, Ciara Same Team, No Games, Gang Starr She Wants To Move, N*E*R*D Shutup, Black Eyed Peas Southside [Featuring Lil Scrappy], The Game This One, Ak'sent Time, St Lunatics Truth or Dare, N*E*R*D Untouchable [Drag-On, Infa-Red, Sheek Louch & Syleena Johnson], DMX Vasilon, Mangana Why I Love You (Radio Edit), Shells You Don't Know My Name, Alicia Keys Your Love (is the greatest drug I've ever known), Van Hunt

Let the Drummer Kick by Citizen Cope
The song plays when coach Carter is in the gym by himself looking at his name on the banner at Richmond High. I love this song, and I searched all the songs on the Coach Carter soundtrack, but couldn't find it. I don't like how it doesn't have it on there, because almost everyone I've talked to seems to be missing it. I searched a forum and found the title of the song. I hope this helps some people finding the song.

Good but not stellar...,

This is a good compilation of hip hop music, and it compliments the movie well, but there are a lot of songs in the film missing on the soundtrack that would have made this a 5-star effort. And also, the "Elation, creation, incarceration, determination..." song is called "Let the Drummer Kick" and it's by Citizen Cope. It definitely should be on the soundtrack it's a great song.

Not worthy of the movie,

First off, most of the reviews on here aren't even reviews at all; they're questions asking people to tell them what song was playing in such-and-such scene. People really need to take those questions to a message board. Second, five of the songs on this soundtrack aren't even featured in the movie. But after listening to it, I wondered if that decision was a bad thing after all because as great as the movie Coach Carter was, the soundtrack doesn't do it justice.
By looking at many of the artists on here, it might make some people want to leave the album in the store. There are a lot of unimpressive joints, like the 1995 sound of Mack 10 and Da Hood's "Balla" and CzarNok's corny rhymes on "Beauty Queen". And Fabolous falls victim to yet another Mase comparison with the trite "No Need For Conversation", mainly because the music doesn't sound much different from "Breathe, Stretch, Shake". Chingy sounds wack as usual on the wrongfully titled "Professional", but the thing is that he still sounds better than his accompanying crew, G.I.B. (the Get It Boys). Speaking of wack crews, the St. Lunatics also appear on this album (sans Nelly) to deliver "Time", and the third verse contains one of the weakest similes I have ever heard: "I'm on point like a guard". Another lyrical faux pas is when Red Café says his style is "butter like Parkay" on "All Night Long". Parkay is margarine, not butter. Trey Songz also sounds misguided on the bling-blingin' style of "About Da Game"; I really think he should stick to ballads. There's also the odd pairing of the Game and Lil Scrappy on "Southside", and Scrappy's not even rapping; he's just talking at the end of the song, but Game doesn't exactly save the song, either. And Twista and Faith Evans' obligatory we-are-the-world song "Hope" doesn't help or hurt the album. All these shortcomings make it hard to enjoy good songs like Van Hunt's "Your Love (Is the Greatest Drug I've Ever Known)". And although I'm not sure who LeToya or Ak'Sent are, the ladies do a good job singing and rhyming on "What Love Can Do" and "This One", respectively, making me look forward to when they release albums (the liner notes state that all the featured artists' albums would be coming out before the end of 2005, but most of them didn't). And that's not really a horrible thing in the end. Don't think twice about picking up the movie Coach Carter, but let the soundtrack be. Anthony Rupert

Some people apparantly have no appreciation of how movie advertising works.
The trailer song is not part of the actual movie soundtrack. Most of the time, when trailers are put out, the film HAS no music yet, so an appropriate piece is put into the trailer. And there is ALWAYS a song list of the back of the CD; I would recommend checking that out before you buy. As the Soundtrack stands, it is a respectable album of appropriate tunes suitable for the urban atmosphere of the film. A good sampler disc for these artists, but true fans will probably own the original albums these songs come from, so for them, there is no use for this CD. Above Average for this particular genre where pop compilations are usually thrown together
