5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have For All Coaches, March 9, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Coaching Girls' Soccer: From the How-To's of the Game to Practical Real-World Advice--Your Definitive Guide to Successfully Coaching Girls (Paperback)
This is a must have book for soccer coaches, especially coaches of girls soccer. I also recommend it for coaches of boys since 98% of the material translates over. The book not only details performing specific skills, tactics and team management, but also covers team and individual motivation and correction styles. This is where the book becomes a little more specific to females then males, which is a good thing because there are a lot of male coaches that coach all girl teams, and they need to understand what motivates boys doesn't work with most girls. While boys tend to be motivated by accomplishment, girls are motivated by relationships. Understanding that will be rewarding and help you bond with your players and develop them as a team.

Read this book and you will dramatically improve your coaching!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for girls, March 4, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Coaching Girls' Soccer: From the How-To's of the Game to Practical Real-World Advice--Your Definitive Guide to Successfully Coaching Girls (Paperback)
After coaching, reffing, and helping to run leagues for 15+ years I am always on the lookout for ways to keep myself fresh and relevant to the kids I have the pleasure to deal with. If every coach could start with this book the world of soccer would be a funner place. This may not be the only book you ever need as you advance, but the broad range of advice, attitude, basic knowledge, and practical tips make this one a "must have". My only gripe is the title, there is some information specific to girls but so much of it is just plain good I hate to see someone miss it because the only coach or have boys.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality advice for coaching girls soccer, October 19, 2001

I work with a top level youth soccer club as the Girls Director of Coaching. After reading Mr. Dewitt's book I feel that he has hit the nail on the head. The advice that he gives, while basic, is just what many new coaches need to start coaching girls soccer. The book covers all aspects of the game while still staying focused on the coaching skills need to work with girls.
