I'm a clinical health psychologist at a major medical center. My clinical work and research for more than 20 years has focused largely in the area of motivation for making healthy changes - exercise motivation/adherence, weight management, medication persistence, and so on. I also do a good deal of work in the area of stress management and the development of optimism. I've read extensively in the field and have high standards for what I would recommend.

This book proved to be an excellent resource - a wonderful blending of solid theory with very practical tips, guidelines, strategies and rules of thumb.

I read it as part of my participation in the Wellcoaches Health Coaching training program. However, whether you decide to enroll in that training and become a coach or simply wish to better assist your clients with improving their health - I highly recommend this manual.
