3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, October 10, 2008
This review is from: Coaching Team Shape (Paperback)
An interesting book. You could tell it was translated to English as it was a lot more descriptive than your average English coaching book, as such it was hard to get through in places. In terms of content....well to tell you the truth its hard to really put my finger on it. Some sections I had no idea what was going on, with one particular part highlighting the number of coaching points you could cover from the drill (which had lost me), but failing to mention one to get you kick started.
So what did I get from it. Well I was looking for a book that would help me coach triangles to my team...you know the fundamental aspect of the possession game. I explain it, I encouage it but how to break it down with being to stop start in my sessions. How to make it second nature in my players through drills and exercises that will also raise a sweat.
This book has given me the base understanding to do that, I now have an idea of how to incorprate it into my season program for next year, will it work, well thats up to a number of things. A word of warning, my understanding did not come from simply following the book to the letter, it came from taking the parts that spoke to me and in a sense translating the book into my own coaching language.

Good concepts and some good drills, but it was difficult to read due to the translations perhaps. I probably wouldn't recommend this book - unless you're looking to read anything you can get your hands on on the topic.
