5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!
I've been waiting for this CD for a long time. Sissy Spacek is one of my favorite actresses and Loretta Lynn is one of my favorite singers. Spacek did an amazing job in "Coal Miner's Daughter" and deservedly won the Academy Award. Unlike others who have played real singers (Jessica Lange in "Sweet Dreams" and Angela Bassett in "What's Love Got...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing beats the Real Patsy..
Although Sissy Spacek makes for a very convincing Loretta Lynn on this album, the fact that they use Beverly D'Angelo sing Patsy's songs and NOT use Patsy's original vocals was a big mistake. Beverly's voice is not that great and fails greatly in comparison to Patsy's (but who's doesn't?) I think it would have been wiser to use Patsy's recordings. Overall, the soundtrack...

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!, February 11, 2000
This review is from: Coal Miner's Daughter (Audio CD)
I've been waiting for this CD for a long time. Sissy Spacek is one of my favorite actresses and Loretta Lynn is one of my favorite singers. Spacek did an amazing job in "Coal Miner's Daughter" and deservedly won the Academy Award. Unlike others who have played real singers (Jessica Lange in "Sweet Dreams" and Angela Bassett in "What's Love Got To Do With It"), she actually sang and did a perfect imitation of Lynn's voice. Beverly D'Angelo played Patsy Cline in the film and did an equally terrific job. One of the highlights is their duet of "Back In Baby's Arms." This CD sounds great and is an excellent companion to perhaps the best musical biography ever made!

5.0 out of 5 stars You're Lookin' At Sissy..., July 14, 2000

It is hard to believe this album took 20 years to be released on CD. Finally, the wait is over. Sissy Spacek's brilliant performance in the movie was nearly outdone by her own amazing vocals on this splendid soundtrack. From the opening, intimate vocals of the first cut, "The Titanic" to the final cut, "You're Lookin' At Country", the entire soundtrack is a complete treasure. In 1980 this movie and soundrack kindled a love for the music of Loretta Lynn that still burns today. Buy it, own it, love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT FIVE STARS * * * * *, November 4, 2002

I LOVE this cd soundtrack. I also LOVE the movie and can't watch it enough. I love Sissy Spacek in it, and Tommy Lee Jones, and thought Sissy was extremely talented, not only with acting, but vocally on this. I bought Loretta Lynn's CD but I like this one better, no offense to those Loretta Lynn Fans, but this cd with Sissy singing just makes me feel like singing to it, and it puts me in a great mood. Excellent cd soundtrack, excellent movie, a must have, both cd and movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Soundtrack, August 9, 2001
This review is from: Coal Miner's Daughter (Audio CD)
I never knew for many years that there was a soundtrack to this movie in existence, although I always hoped because I love Loretta Lynn and was so impressed by Sissy Spacek's interpretation of Loretta. I was so glad to find that this had been released on CD after all of these years. What an exceptional singing ability Sissy has. I'm surprised she hasn't done more. My only gripe is that there were a couple more songs by Sissy that were in the film that they could have put on the soundtrack, rather than the songs by Levon Helm and "Funeral Guests." Still a great collection, though.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN AMAZING SOUNDTRACK! GLAD TO SEE IT ON CD!, December 28, 2007
This review is from: Coal Miner's Daughter (Audio CD)
This is an excellent soundtrack. My brother had the album years ago and I waited for many more years for it to become available on CD. Sissy Spacek and Co. do a unbelievable job of singing the country classics and in some cases actually improve upon the original versions! Stand out cuts are 'There He Goes', 'I'm a Honky Tonk Girl' and 'I'm Back In Baby's Arms'. If your a fan of Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline you should definitely check this out, it will surprise you!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME SOUNDTRACK!, April 9, 2002
This review is from: Coal Miner's Daughter (Audio CD)
The movie was awesome and the soundtrack was even better! A great cd to add to your collection! I remember listening to the soundtrack OVER AND OVER, on my moms 8-TRACK! for the soundtrack to have such an influence on a 6 year old! now that's good music! Sissy and Beverly have the voices of angels! No one could have done Loretta and Patsy justice but them! BUY THIS SOUNDTRACK!

This is a great album. Anyone who enjoyed the movie, or is a Loretta Lynn fan should definetly have a copy. Ms. Spacek certainly has Loretta Lynn down. I especially enjoyed the duet with "Loretta & Patsy."

I've always admired Sissy Spacek's performances. This one was quite exceptional. I still can't believe that is her own beautiful voice. I have almost worn out the Soundtrack on cassette. I kept dreaming that the Sountrack would be released on CD, and now that day has come. I will be counting the days until the CD arrives! Thank you, Amazon, for making it available to me!

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally on CD, but...., March 9, 2000
This review is from: Coal Miner's Daughter (Audio CD)
I'm really really happy this finally came out on CD. But I had hoped that this version would include some of the songs that were in the movie but not on the original Album (Fist City, Your Squa is on the ...). Still, I am delighted with the CD!
