5.0 out of 5 stars superb storytelling style
"Coast to Coast Ghosts" will draw you in immediately with Leslie Rule's easy, conversational style and with the dramatic pictures she took at various haunted sites all over the US. If you take the attitude, "There ain't no such thing as a ghost", Rule's book may make you re-examine your thinking. Remember that a corollary of Einstein's breakthrough...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Hans Holzer, but not bad either
Miss Rule is definitely no Hans Holzer. Her stories are a little too much to pattern, with vocabulary choices at times almost cliche, but the stories in her Coast to Coast Ghosts are quite charming none the less, and she does do a fair amount of background research on her subjects. As with Holzer's books on the paranormal, there is a bit of history incorporated into the...

5.0 out of 5 stars superb storytelling style, February 5, 2002
This review is from: Coast To Coast Ghosts: True Stories of Hauntings Across America (Paperback)
Remember that a corollary of Einstein's breakthrough relativity theory is that time and space are not linear; instead they are relative to each other, and linked in ways that are yet beyond our understanding.
Both fun and fascinating, this book is a marvelous addition to the literature of the paranomal in America. Skeptics will be intrigued, and believers will be delighted. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read For Ghost Story Lovers, August 23, 2001
This review is from: Coast To Coast Ghosts: True Stories of Hauntings Across America (Paperback)
This is one of the best books I've read about true ghost stories. The writer reaches right in and grabs your attention...making you feel like your right there, experiencing these events right along with the helpless victims sharing their lives with these spirits. Included with the ghostly tales are a listing of haunted colleges and information to "signs that a place is haunted". It was wonderful to read that this writer was not just writing about other peoples experiences, but she includes several of her own personal experiences with ghosts...making me realize that she just didn't interview and write, she was sympathetic to something she understood to be true, something she has personally experienced. I would highly recommend this book to all that are crazy about reading true ghost stories. Fantastic writer! Hope to see more books from Leslie Rule in the future on this subject!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Chilled to the bone!, March 26, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Coast To Coast Ghosts: True Stories of Hauntings Across America (Paperback)
COAST TO COAST GHOSTS kept me turning the pages well into the morning's wee hours! The chilling and fascinating accounts that Ms. Rule chronicled were like no others I've read. I was especially impressed with her thorough research. For instance, Rule uncovered the scandal behind the famed haunted San Diego Whaley House--a scandal that so shocked the museum curators that they have kept it hidden from the public for over a century. Rule gave detailed reports on the shocking events, along with identitfying a new Whaley ghost! (I won't spoil the suspense!)

As for the photography! Superb! I've been following Leslie Rule's work for years as her courtroom photography appeared in the books of her mother (True crime author Ann Rule).

All I can say is I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Spooks aplenty., February 9, 2004
This review is from: Coast To Coast Ghosts: True Stories of Hauntings Across America (Paperback)
Leslie Rule has put together a wonderful collection of ghost stories that are indeed collected from, Coast to Coast." The author obviously inherited her mother's writing ability for her style is engrossing and she has taken the time to investigate her stories. I would guess that several years and thousands of miles went into collecting these stories. It is also a plus that the author fully believes in her subject matter and includes several of her own paranormal experiences in this book.

The stories are a little short on depth and detail but still the stories are very engaging and believable. I was delighted to see that the author had done some investigating of her own on the Whaley House in San Diego and had discovered that the haunting there might not be as clean and neat as it is packaged to be. The author includes a story from her husband concerning the Myrtles Plantation in Louisiana, a haunting of which I have always been skeptical. In fact, a major ghost hunting society has recently announced its doubts about the Myrtles. No matter the ghost hunters or my doubts, the Myrtles ghost or ghosts seem to have convinced Leslie's husband Kevin.

Any ghost story aficionado will want this book in their collection. What it lacks in depth it makes up for in feeling. I hope that this is not Leslie Rule's last offering of ghost tales for I enjoyed it immensely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Variety of Haunting Experiences, October 31, 2001
This review is from: Coast To Coast Ghosts: True Stories of Hauntings Across America (Paperback)
Leslie did a wonderful job of giving the reader not only true ghost stories, but a great variety of them, in differing catagories and from many points of view.

I contributed one of my own, and she has included it in her book , (the haunted piano on page 212. I have always been a fan and an avid reader of true ghost stories as a child into my adult years. This is one of the best compiled grouping I have come across.

This review is from: Coast To Coast Ghosts: True Stories of Hauntings Across America (Paperback)
Miss Rule is definitely no Hans Holzer. Her stories are a little too much to pattern, with vocabulary choices at times almost cliche, but the stories in her Coast to Coast Ghosts are quite charming none the less, and she does do a fair amount of background research on her subjects. As with Holzer's books on the paranormal, there is a bit of history incorporated into the discussion of the ghostly encounters. Whether one believes in ghosts or not, the stories still captivate. I didn't care much for the more blatant promotion of hotels with purported ghostly sightings, however. Even the hotel's phone number was included in some instances, just in case the reader might want to make a reservation. That was a little too commercial for my taste, but other readers might in fact like the information. One of the aspects of the book that I very much enjoyed was the lady's photography, since most of the photos in the book, including that on the cover, are her own. She definitely has a way of capturing the feeling of a place with the camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars A GENEROUS DOSE OF EERIE ENTERTAINMENT!, October 1, 2003
This review is from: Coast To Coast Ghosts: True Stories of Hauntings Across America (Paperback)
COAST TO COAST GHOSTS is an intriguing collection of tales focusing on various haunted locations throughout the country. Leslie Rule is a wonderful storyteller, and her sometimes conversational style draws you in and makes you feel as though you're right there with her. She has done her homework on these hauntings, and it certainly shows. The time and research she has put into these stories add a dimension of realism not often found in this genre.

COAST TO COAST GHOSTS is chilling, entertaining and informative. Striking photos taken by the author add the crowning touch! No collection of ghost books would be complete without COAST TO COAST GHOSTS!

5.0 out of 5 stars very good for first time ghost writer, September 5, 2004
This review is from: Coast To Coast Ghosts: True Stories of Hauntings Across America (Paperback)
Very good book. Included history also and her own encounters. I definitely like that she went to these places and investigated and the inclusion of herself made it a pleasure to read. Just picked up her new ghost book, can't wait to read.
