Just about perfect.
Light is very bright, diffused. This is the best of the two LED lanterns I have tried.

The first time I picked this up with batteries in it, it slipped out of my hand because I had my fingers hooked around on the slippery knob. Use the hook. It fell 2 feet to the wood floor and broke the cover to the battery compartment. Now I have to use tape to hold it on. Also the dimmer switch is hard to use because you have to press and turn. It stays on a long time. If I had to do again I would get a AA model.
