As a law enforcement officer and an instructor I am always looking for a smaller, more powerful flashlight for tactical purposes. This flashlight delivers the performance I'm looking for and is relatively inexpensive compared to brands such as Surefire. Only time will tell if the batteries last as long as advertised, but if they last half the time I would be satisfied.

This little light with its 3 AAA batteries blows away my big LED MagLite with its 3 D batteries. And the Coast comes with six (6) AAAs.

The Coast's narrow beam is wider than the Mag's, and the Coast's wide beam is narrower than the Mag's. The Coast's wide beam pretty much is the size of the black hole in the Mag's wide beam. Speaking of which, the center of the Coast beam "grays out" a little in wide beam, but not much, and you can see things clearly with the Coast's wide beam.

The Coast has an excellent case that fits on a belt or pack strap, a fine lanyard, and a D-ring. The light, including case, fits in pants or jeans pockets without showing a lump. Costs more than a Mag and other brands of lights, and well worth it. (If a burglar breaks in, I'll use the Coast to find him and the Mag to beat on him!)

Coast has a lot of different set ups for their flashlights, but this was the criteria I was going for:

- Small, something I could have on my belt that won't add too much weight.

- Able to change focus from wide to narrow

- Easy to replace batteries (AAA)

- Bright

- "Affordable" - meaning less than $50

This was the perfect flashlight that fit all of my criteria. Too bad there isn't a dim setting because this thing gets bright, so don't use this to look for your keys in the movie theater. I'm currently serving in Iraq so this is perfect for what I need it to do.
