Like others have said, this is a REALLY bright light. Especially considering its small size and ability to EASILY fit in your pocket. Although the beam is not focusable, this light is very comparable in terms of brightness with my older P14 Lenser. Turning on this light around other people is sure to turn LOTS of heads. Simply put, people don't expect so much light to come from such a small light. This makes the PX25 the PERFECT light to take out on an evening walk in dark places. It's also a good hiking light. Just be sure you bring extra batteries!

Speaking of that, battery life seems to be THE shortcoming of this light. Unfortunately, there is no lower brightness setting to extend battery life in situations where maximum brightness is not needed. Coast says the light will run about 6 hours on a set of AAA batteries. But this is only if you use alkalines and let the light dim to 21 lumens. Speaking of alkalines, I'm actually not too impressed with the performance of alkalines in this light, as the light dims rapidly with use. This is not the fault of the light, though. A quick check with an ammeter reveals that the light draws about .6A. At this point, AAA alkalines are quite overworked (and then some!). MUCH better is to run this light with NiMH batteries - both for sustained brightness AND to save money (since this light REALLY goes through batteries). But if you go out for a hike where you'll be using the light for much longer than an hour, be sure to bring extras. Otherwise, you could find yourself left in the dark!

As an L.E.D. flashlight fanatic and owner of dozens of torches, Coast's PX25 is perhaps my favorite everyday light. At 4.7" length, 1.1" diameter, and weighing in at only 4.2 ounces (with batteries), it strikes the perfect balance between portability, durability, and brightness. Fitted with a Cree L.E.D. and rated at 208 lumens, the light emits a bulls eye pattern with a central hot spot surrounded by a halo of dimmer light. Though a fixed-focus design, I usually set my lights to the tightest beam, and the lack of a focusing head adds to the compactness and durability of the design.

As with most Coast lights, the case is manufactured of black machined aluminum, with a nice checkering for grip, and fits perfectly in the hand. Access to the battery compartment is through the threaded tail cap, which is sealed by an O-ring, and also includes a handy lanyard ring. The three AAA batteries are fitted into a removable cartridge within the flashlight body. The L.E.D. is covered by a polycarbonate lens which is recessed to avoid damage if dropped, and the switch is tail mounted and rubber covered. The switch feels sturdy and provides a positive "click" when activated. It may also be partially depressed for signalling or momentary light. Only a single light level is provided. The PX25 is IPX4 rated (splashing/rain).

The PX25 is rated @ 208 lumens with battery life estimated at 6 hrs 15 mins. Since it is an unregulated light, brightness will slowly diminish as the batteries become exhausted. In my runtime test, even at six and a half hours, it was still going strong and brighter than any of the cheap, 3-AAA multi-LED units you see everywhere.

This is an outstanding light. I just bought it to replace my LED Lenser V2 (Coast & LED Lenser used to be tied together somehow, but now I'm told they're not) which is still in great shape, it's just that I've worn it on my belt so much its belt sheath was falling apart. I REALLY like my V2 but it's like Coast took everything I liked about the V2 and made it better. It is twice as bright. It has a better on/off switch. Instead of just being a very narrowly focused light beam the PX25 has a bright focused center and a wide cone of dim light: enough to see/scan with and also wide enough to illuminate your front sight if you're using a cross-wrist hold with some form of fiber optic sight.
The only downside I can find is that its belt sheath has the same type of simple cloth belt loop so with time it's going to stretch and fray as well.
I own/have used Surfire lights... they're nice. For personal/non-military use I'll take this light over a Surefire any day. It's considerably smaller/more compact, just as well made if not better, and just as bright as any Surefire costing anywhere from four to eight times more. Its the nicest personal carry light I've come across to date. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I bought this light after haven my mag lite 150, which is ok but to many options I could care for and always goes to strobe when needed a straight bright lite! So I opted to by this one, It is super bright, nice and lite, And the belt pouch was a great surprise, Well built side pouch, super bright led! How can you go wrong!

I bought this light from Home Depot because I had a $25 gift card which made this light $15 at their $39 price tag. For $15 dollars, you can't beat this light. For $25 and up, you definitely can.

Pro's:
So far it has proven durable. I've dropped it, had it covered in mud and then submerged it to clean it off and i've had no issues.
The rear activation button is a solid and there is no chance of turning this on while it's in your pocket. When you click it on and off it's firm and the switch has enough throw that you can activate it without clicking through no problem.
Since it doesn't have a clip, the tether on the rear of the light it nice and allows for quick deployment while buried in my pocket. This is the only advantage of this light over the similar in style mag-lite option.
Looks, if looks are a factor in your purchase, this light likely fills that need as its a pretty good looking light.
Grip is good. It could be better but in those wet muddy conditions, I didn't have a problem with it slipping around in my hand.
The 208 lumens is plenty for your average edc needs. At night, within about 200ft you can put enough light on anything.

Cons:
This light is not reliable for my needs at 400ft as advertised. The design of the bullsize beam makes the light pattern too large to see clearly at that distance.
One mode makes this light good for anything between 20ft-200ft. Trying to search close quarters results in too much glare even if you're trying to use the outside of the beam.
Size and weight - for what this light offers, I feel it could be lighter (battery choice?) and definitely smaller. The weight isn't bad, but it could be better IMO.
