From the Manufacturer

The Coast TX40 LED Flashlight is easy to mount on a weapon and fits into a standard one inch rail mount. An optional momentary on/off pressure switch (not included) allows the light to be operated while holding a weapon in a ready-to-fire position. It produces a Bulls Eye spot beam giving you a great focused spot with a maximum beam distance of 158 meters (518 feet), while producing an outer ring of flood light which allows you to see a broader area for added side vision. Built tough, an impact-resistant, lightweight aluminum casing resists rust and corrosion. Tested and rated to ANSI/FL1 standards, the TX40 also features an unbreakable LED and rubberized O-ring for reliable water resistance and durability. Backed by Coast's lifetime guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship.

I own several other Coast lights and all are outstanding. This one is no exception. I bought it to mount on a Remington 870 which I recently purchased. Let me just give the pros and cons to make this short and sweet.

Pros: Designed to be mounted on a gun so it has a 1" housing, and a removable button which allows for a pressure switch (Sold separately).
Very durable light and great build quality.
Outstanding battery life which will shine brighter and longer than the competition costing twice or three times as much.
Good size and weight.
Based on the build design, it appears it would fair well in adverse and wet weather conditions (Although I have not tested this aspect of the light)
Very bright light. It appears to be brighter than the advertised Lumen rating.
Price: a light like this could easily sell for almost double.
Interesting stuff: This also falls under a BIG pro for me; this light has a focused spot towards the center of the beam, and has a halo type light which incircles the spot. I find this feature VERY beneficial, especially for a shotgun. I found that the focused center beam is slightly larger than the spread pattern would be for that given distance. For instance, as you get closer to an object with the light, which is mounted to the end of the gun, the center beam decrease with size, as would the shot pattern of a 12 gauge. I think this holds true to a point, however the spread pattern of the light may expand more rapidly than the spread pattern of the shot would. I hope that makes sense. Keeping this in mind, I have eliminated the need for a lazar sight because the light shines exactly where the muzzle of my gun is pointing and aids in quick target acquisition.

Great flashlight. It is super bright. I live on 5 acres and it shines all the way to my fences. It fits into a 1 inch tactical mount for a gun. The best part is that in runs on AAA batteries and has an 8 hour life. I am going to buy 3 more!!!

compact, lite weight, easy to use, the beam is outstanding. I had an easy 100-150 yd spot, with a full moon.

I can tell that this is built to be put on a gun. The light easily lights up areas at 120 feet out. 1 inch diameter, which is what most light mounts accept. I am waiting for my rail kit to arrive but it will go on a benelli supernova. If there are any problems I will post a follow up, but I highly doubt it.

Normally a flashlight has a spring at the back to touch the battery. This light has a battery holder (3 aaa batteries go into a polymer holder, just look up aaa battery holder), that holder touches metal which then touches a rear spring that has a rubber coating around it with a metal tip to make it so the spring does not get bent out of shape. When you screw on the end to put in batteries or the front where the bulb is, the screw threading has a rubber O-ring to ensure the light does not unscrew due to recoil. if you own a firearm and buy this flashlight, I am confident you can tell right away that its built to be put on a weapon.

I think that 40 dollars is a fair price for a weapons grade tactical light, not $100. If you do not see a re-post, its because the light handles 12 gauge recoil and I am too busy having fun.

This light is mounted on my 870. It's bright, solid, and just the right size for the job. I don't know what else I could ask for at this price point. Well, there is one thing. An adjustable focus would be nice.

This flashlight, mounted on an 870 tactical, lights the field of fire perfectly and allows peripheral illumination for multiple targeting situations. Bright and shockproof [45+ rounds] to date. If used with the Elzetta Flashlight mount in the quick release mode, you will need to remove the end cap to get it in and out. If you intend to leave it attached, one time install will be all you'll need.

I bought a 1 inch ring to put it on my Semi Auto rifle because I am tired of tactical flashlights that use hard to find, expensive batteries and only function for 2 hrs. This bad boy has easy to find AAA batteries and it is a small SEARCHLIGHT. I am more than pleased, this is money well spent.

This is a nice light and appears to be well made. I like the o-rings and the fit and finish is very good. For a AAA powered light the beam is good with a nice halo around the hot spot. The power is more than enough for indoor use and sufficient out to 50 yards outside. Be aware this is NOT a weapon light, it's an every day carry light for general purpose use. I only gave it 4 stars because of a problem with ALL these types of lights. These things are SLICK AS A GREASED PIG and hard to hold on to. I work with my hands and the skin on my fingers is worn smooth. The knurling on this (and other) lights is USELESS. Any slight bump to hand or arm and this thing will fly out of your hand. It's so slippery I'm almost afraid
to use it. The design is a straight tube with nothing larger on the back to use as a stop to trap it in your hand. If your in your 20's with nice soft supple hands you could probably use it ok, but for us old folks with worn hands it's just too hard to hang on to.
It beats a mini maglight by miles and is worth having. Just be careful how you hold it.
