While a little simplistic and over-generalized at times, like all the books I've used in the Nutshell series, this is a good, solid reference tool. As an attorney and moderator of a discussion board on coastal access issues that emphasizes California law, I appreciate the comparisons of different approaches taken in different states. It's not really a book to read from start to finish, but as a quick reference to illustrate issues and point to the leading cases it's been a welcome help.

I purchased this with the hardback text that for a class in ocean law. Everyone recommended to get this book because it contains the 'analysis' of the cases from the more expensive book. If you are already forced to buy the big book don't waste your time on this one. I did read it, but much of the analysis was just a rehash in the big book and still light. I would not have purchased this if I knew this information before.

Conversely, if you are looking into ocean law and not "required" to purchase the huge text pick this up because it's cheaper and will point to the same cases which are publicly available from the library.

The authors basically needed to just include this material in the big text and not create a small separate book which did not have any different information.

The book I received was in excellent condition and appears to never have been used. Thank you.
