Pandora's box of foam.,

Living in an apartment has it's disadvantages and getting the two boxes which contained my table proved to be a challenge due to the lame Fedex man not wanting to take it up a mere twelve stairs. After clearing that hurdle, I did not expect the amazing mess that awaited me in those two boxes.
The table and chairs arrived beautifully with only one scratch that I was able to locate on the side of the table. The wonderful condition had to have a downside as it was packed with what resembled spray foam insulation and was not the normal styrofoam that one is accustomed to. Before I could even begin the process of constructing the table, I was left to deal with the enormous mess that this foam made. From one box I removed FIVE trash bags full of spray foam that was filled with so much static that it floated through the air and became attached to both me and my rental-drab beige walls. I still have one box sitting in my living room as I have not gotten the courage to tackle the curse of the foam for a second time. It is leaning in the corner, as a constant reminder of the mess that will be made once I open that Pandora's box of foam. My only conclusion as to why there was so much damn foam is that perhaps the travel route of the table was through some sort of nuclear fallout zone that the rest of the American public is unaware of. I just hope that the deliverer wore a similarly constructed suit to protect themselves from the radiation. I'd hate for anyone to get cancer just because I wanted a dining room table. Other than that the table was relatively easy to put together. As a self-assembly veteran I was surprised that there's no pre-drilled holes to attach the seat of the chair to the frame of the chair. After much guessing and irritation, I just strong handed it and screwed it in (that's what she said). The screws eventually went in and now I have a wonderful dining set. I might have to clear-coat the top with something since the table top is quite soft and easily scratch-able.

When I purchased this table it was only $256. I can't imagine why they've raised the price to $303 now. It was barely worth what I paid for it. The paint job is the main problem I have with this table set. It is so sensitive to touch. I set my leather purse on it all of the time and when I pick it up there is a cloud of moisture that appears on the surface of the table. Also, if you drag your nail across it lightly it will leave a mark. Other than that, the assembly took about an hour and there are no predrilled holes to attach the chair seat to the chair legs. It's not that hard to drill/screw the nails into place however because the "wood" is soft.

good set though I thought it was solid wood . it is composite wood and veneer yet still reasonable set for such price. Looks decent and nice.
