Table was received on time and in amazingly careful packaging that would be impervious to damage.

For anyone considering it, the table is a very very very very dark brown color, with touches of black. I have it in a room with black pieces and had intentions of painting it but bought it anyway because its style matches my other furniture. Upon assembling the table, I decided I won't dare touch it ... it's just too beautiful the way it is.

The table looks like an expensive piece, not like RTA furniture at all. Well worth the price, in fact, would be worth a higher price. I highly recommend this item.

Looks exactly like the photo, sturdy when assembled correctly, finish will mar if not careful, came slightly damaged from factory (small nicks in shelves) but covered up with black ink. All the holes lined up, was nicely manufactured. It did have an overwhelming solvent/fumicide odor the first two days but is fine now. I would air this outdoors the next time. I really like this and am thinking of buying a second one.

Instructions are poor - here's a few hints:

Easier and faster to use a ratchet or electric screwdriver with a 5/32" allen bit, if you have it. Pieces have a good side and a rough side, make sure good sides are facing out. Table will be assembled upside down.

1) Stand sides upside down on floor, right sides out. Slide aprons into sides first, good sides out. Don't insert screws yet.

2) Attach middle shelf loosely with screws and washers, good side facing towards floor.

3) Attach bottom shelf loosely with screws and washers, good side facing towards floor. (Unit is still upside down)

4) Insert balance nuts into aprons and thread apron screws through them. Make sure aprons are sitting at right angles to floor - they can twist if you're not careful.

5) Tighten all screws making sure shelves sit squarely and line up with edges of sides.

6) Put table top face down on floor (on protective surface to prevent scratching - packing materials are good for this) and place tightened unit on top. Everything is still upside down. Screw base to top securely thru pre-drilled holes. Insert decorative plugs into side holes.

7) Turn it right side up and you have a very nice table.

As a full-time graduate student, I found it annoying to continuously run up and down the steps to put away my school books, binders, and notebooks; and then to retrieve them every day as I left for school. I chose to purchase a sofa table to keep my schoolbooks handy where I worked downstairs and also to have a flat surface for candles, appetizer trays for parties, etc.

My living room decor is red, beige, black, and tan. I was instantly attracted to the design of the sofa table and was very happy with the price as compared to other sofa tables that ran for $100-200 more than this one and seemed to be less functional/attractive. Upon assembling the table (which isn't too difficult - it will help if you have someone else there, but I was able to do it on my own just fine) I was pleased with how sturdy and solid the table feels. I have owned this table for many months now and continue to be pleased with the durability.

My ONLY con for this table is that on the two lower shelves, the paint is a bit rough and uneven. This is not a major issue for me, but you may want to consider purchasing a clear glaze coating for the shelves to smooth them out a bit if you experience the same problem.

Other than that, I remain very pleased with this product!
